I do not generate a large amount of trash or garbage these smaller bags allow me to throw out my garbage before it starts to smell. I used to use standard plastic trash bags, and when I found biodegradable and compostable trash bags I immediately got some. The first bags I got were from a different manufacturer and they were apparently not well manufactured because I lost nearly 50% when trying to separated them from the roll due to the bag tearing as I pulled it free along the perforated edge. I was getting really frustrated and then I found the Holy Scrap bags. I love them and they are generally easy to tear off of the roll without tearing the bag, or the one next to it. I have been using them for more than a year now and they are working quite well.ProsI like draw string bags and I can get these with draw strings.The bag is sturdy and I can fill it quite full and it won't tear.They are biodegradable and compostable.The cons may seem a bit weird, but here goes,ConsThey have a limited life before they begin to weaken (the downside of what the bag is made from)As they age they start to tear more easily, so one has to be more careful.So the key is to not order more than you can use in 3 - 6 months, I would stick closer to 3 months since the clock starts "ticking" when they are produced and there is no way to tell how long they have been on the shelf. The box I am using is about 8 months old and they are tearing more easily, which is the first time that that has happened, so I am not totally sure if it is aging, an issue with the "plastic" they are made of, or a quality control problem. I currently have one more box on the shelf that is 3 months old. I will possibly need to go through several boxes. My next order will be two boxes at the same time,which will help determine if it is aging. The best way to suss out quality control is to see if several boxes have the same problems. For those unfamiliar, manufacturer quality control consists of randomly selecting products that have been made, then inspect and test them for defects. If the defect rate is 5% or less, depending on the manufacturer, the batch is considered a good run. Many of the reviewers of items sold on Amazon will say the company has poor quality control if there are repeated complaints about the quality of the product, particularly if they get replacements for defective items that have the same defect. So an general FYI: if you return an item for replacement and the replacement has the same defect, or even a different defect, return it for a refund, especially of others are reporting the same problem. Also if a lot of people report the same problem with an item, look for something from a different seller.Anyway I will update the review once I can feel sure it is QC problem, or not.

I have been using these bags since 2023 and was always please with the quality. They were not only compostable but sturdy. Now, they split and break easily requiring us to carry the trash outside in the bin. They tear upon separation and split upon being put around the trash can top. Will not be buying again. Such a pity that a good product has gone by the wayside.

BOUGHT MULTIPLE TIMES & WAS ALWAYS DISAPPOINTED!I wanted so much to like these. The size is fine and there are a lot in the box for the price. However, they often ripped at the handles. When pulling out from the box, they sometimes split along the side. There was considerable leakage if bag had fruits or vegetables inside. I always wound up always doubling them, which helped with some leakage but doubled the price. Perhaps others have better luck, based on the high ratings.

the main problem i have with many compostable bags is how challenging it can be to open them as the plastic is clingy. These are not clingy. Great bag! [ i had given up on cpoompostable bags as i dint want the extra expense to just throw somehting away but these make it easier to throw out compost without RE cleaning compost bin every night and scraping out fat and spaghetti sauce etc. i had hoped to use them in home shredder for paper but i understand that in my city we must mix that in with leaves and so bagging wont work.

Tear very easy! Have bought multiple times, but the last box of them were really bad. Can’t carry by the draw strings or they come completely apart!

I’ve been using these trash bags for 2 years now and in the last two boxes I’ve purchased, almost every bag splits or the ties break, even without being over stuffed or heavy and being very carful not to tug too hard while taking them out of the trash can. I’m never buying these again, they used to be great and I never had any issues. It was good while it lasted I guess, but I’ll be throwing my last unopened box of them away and finding a new brand from here on out.

I wanted to like these because I love the name! They appeared to be pretty strong but when I pull them from the dispenser, even with being really careful they slit and tear. Maybe I am doing something wrong because I bought them from the reviews. I like the choice of sizes but I don’t think I can use them.

Heavy, and sturdy bags.
