desertcart.com: Acoustic Classics: CDs & Vinyl Review: Classic album - Wonderful album,Peter Framton delivers an excellent performance on his classic songs,a must for anyone who grew up in the 70s Review: Frampton's Acoustic Set is Flawless - Next to the word "underrated" in the dictionary is a picture of guitar virtuoso Peter Frampton. He continues to write, record and produce the most amazing songs. This album is just one more example of his remarkable ability. On the album, Peter (I do not know him, and yet...), produces all acoustic sets of some of his greatest songs. It is well worth a purchase for anyone who knows Frampton's music and even if you are unfamiliar with it (gasp!). If you enjoy the great acoustic guitar sound (acoustic bass as well), you will love this album. I especially like the acoustic version of his great classic, "Do You Feel Like We Do?", as well as the fantastic, "I'm in You" and the very catchy instrumental, "Penny for Your Thoughts". I am hoping this is just the first one.

Finally a True Unplugged, Acoustic Album!
The liner notes on Acoustic Classics" CD by Peter Frampton are sparse to non-existent. What info there is indicates that the album was recorded at Studio Phenix (spelled exactly that way) in Nashville, TN. Google hasn't a clue about this recording studio, so I am assuming that this might be Frampton's private home studio. The engineering was done by Matt Legge and the mix was done by Jeff Balding. The mastering was done by Bob Ludwig (finally, a name that I recognize!) at Gateway Mastering. I downloaded and listened to the MP3 before the album arrived in today's mail. The CD is miles sonically from the MP3, but how just good is it? I don't know--I'm having trouble deciding. Certainly, it is not horrid. There is a nice dynamic range to the recording. The frequency response is exceptional and the IM and harmonic distortion is low enough to be unnoticed. Noise? What noise? However, I expected to hear Peter Frampton sitting in my room and playing his heart out for me. His playing is better than fine, but the sound of the guitar(s) is almost too full. In fact, the guitar(s) sound extremely close miked. Maybe that's a normal sound for Peter Frampton's ear, but I'm used to a bit more acoustical space from the instrument. Maybe they recorded the pickup mic or perhaps they used an external mic just a few inches from the strings. Perhaps a touch of heavy hand on the compressor or EQ? Or maybe the recording is yet another victim of ProTools. My first thought when listening to the CD was, "It's Frampton singing and playing a single guitar in most cases, so what's to mess up in the recording process?" Then it occurred to me that the opposite is more likely to be true. If you have a ton of instruments and tracks, there is plenty of room to cover things up. Easy to "fix in the mix." But with one vocal track and perhaps one or two guitar tracks, there isn't much forgiveness. I'm going to have to give this CD a second or third listen--best keep it in the CD changer!--before I make up my mind. No regrets on the purchase, however. Despite my questions on the recording of the guitar(s), Frampton deserves applause for releasing a true acoustic album. There are no drums, no organ, no synthesizer, no electric bass. Just Frampton, a couple of guitars and an occasional piano. Too many "acoustic" and "unplugged" albums don't get this. So props for this alone to Peter Frampton.

Classy as ever, passionate, heart-felt, beautiful album!
Sweeeeeet songs.... his voice has some age to it, but Frampton is still so awesome and classy. The age in his voice lends to a melancholy melodic masterpiece, he seems to be remembering times past with these songs and can express himself marvelously and passionately with his fingers on that acoustic guitar - and the piano for "Im in You" is still so beautiful. This is a breath of fresh air album with some powerful memories and feeling. My top four favorites are "All I Want to Be", "Do You Feel Like I Do", "Baby I Love Your Way" and "I'm In You". The others are just wonderful also, but I always loved those 4 in particular. I couldn't count how many times I played this whole CD on repeat since I got it. What a really great deal, too, to have the actual CD and an mp3 instant download. Thanks Amazon.

Better than you could ever imagine
We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we grew to love this new CD. Listened to it three times while driving from Nashville to Destin last month and truly enjoyed it. This is simple....Peter Frampton, his guitar, and a great microphone for the most part. You feel as though you are in the studio sitting right beside him (recorded in my town of Nashville!). Very personal, emotional and touching. Yes, I was one who played "Frampton Comes Alive" a thousand times back in 1976-77, and did it again in the late 1980s when the CD version was released. This new CD is different....you are sitting with him enjoying and smiling through every song. The one exception is "Lines on my Face", one of my favorites of his, and although it is not a happy song, it brings a knowing smile to YOUR face due to all the emotion he puts in to this track. Get it, love it, keep it.

Frampton Fans Can't Go Wrong With "Acoustic Classics"
I love Peter's "Acoustic Classics"! I've heard some of his songs performed acoustically & figured I couldn't lose by ordering this one. Correct I was...Songs, such ad, "All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side) & "Lines On My Face" do not sound all that different, acoustically as they were acoustical based songs."Show Me The Way" sounds great. He did use his patented talk-box skills over an acoustic track on this one. How could he not, though, right? Peter is a great guitarist, both his acoustic stylings & his electric work. (See him live & you'll hear a guy who can REALLY jam!). He is also THE master of the talk-box! I've never been disappointed in one of his releases...

Magnificent
Great CD and do get the CD for the extra quality of sound versus downloading. The music and CD recording are just a magnificent piece of work. The songs mostly favorites over the years, but a very different sound than just thinking these are just unplugged or acoustic versions. The guitar work is so good you can just imagine the fingers working the frets with passion. Frampton is so underrated and probably is easily in the top 10 guitarist over the past 50 years. Great value, again hear about three times the resolution with the CD version on a decent sound system or headphones and you will love it.

Worth a listen...
This album is pretty good but in light of the fact that he's so far along as a musician I guess I was expecting more... I play acoustic guitar a lot and I love the sound of the instruments and that made the album worth listening to... had to listen to it several times to warm up to it some...

アコースティックギターでしっとり
Show Me The Wayではトーキング・モジュレーターが、I'm in Youではピアノが入るほかはアコースティックギターのみでしっとりと歌い上げている。 Peter Framptonのアルバムの中では、Comes Aliveと並んで最もお気に入りの1枚になった。 収録曲は以下のとおり。Comes Alive収録の曲が6曲入っている。 01 Fig Tree Bay 02 Wind Of Change 03 All I Want To Be (Is By Your Side) 04 Show Me The Way 05 Lines On My Face 06 Sail Away 07 Baby, I Love Your Way 08 All Down To Me 09 Penny For Your Thoughts 10 Do You Feel Like I Do 11 I'm In You

Comes Alive !
Delivery prompt, First got into Framptons music, like most people, with Comes Alive, my girlfriend at the time had seen him live sometime earlier and raved about him and his band, many years later he has gone down the blues route, and many other genres, this acoustic set shows what a fine guitarist he still is, songs that stand the test of time, a fine voice too, stripoed down like this you get deeper meaning from the lyrics, a fine album for any Frampton fan, but also for any new listeners too, he came alive all those years ago, and this brings new life to already classic songs .

Peter Frampton
What's not to love. The classics reworked into acoustic. I'll always love Frampton Comes Alive, the first album I ever purchased, but this more mellow sound is nice as well.
