LID REMOVAL (easy): I also found that it's easier to remove the lid than many reviews indicate. It's actually a great setup for people like me with smaller or arthritic hands. Here's the trick. When you put the lid on, twist it just tight enough so it doesn't leak. If you twist it super tight, it may be hard, if not impossible, for you to get off. Having twisted it just tight enough, when you're ready to remove the lid, open up the top sipper stopper piece and push it all the way back so it locks into place on the other side. Using the side edge of that locked in piece, fairly gently (not too hard!) push and/or pull sideways on it. Note # 1 :: I'm pretty sure that's what the sipper stopper piece was designed for and why it's so solid. This technique should work for anybody who's even giving it a regular twist on, IF they fully lock the piece in place before trying it and/or push/pull so hard on it that the piece immediately or eventually cracks and breaks off. Note # 2 :: Because I'm not twisting the lid on tighter that simply to get it not to leak, the sipping/straw hole locates slightly off center, but only by a very little bit, maybe 1 or 2 degrees. STRAW: Speaking of straws, the sipping hole is too small to fit the larger straws that came with my other Bubba mugs. If I hadn't happened to have a few thinner hard-plastic straws on hand that were long enough, I would have ordered thinner ones from desertcart or gotten the soft silicone straws that would conform to the weird shape of the sipping/straw hole. I have always enjoyed it and was satisfied from the beginning. I have had to replace the mug 2 times, both times I lost the mug. I have left the mug on the roof of the car and it fell off. when I retrieved it, besides a few dents, the mug was still in good shape. I have always enjoyed this product. the 52oz mug I have now, which I have had for over 10 years is now starting to lose insulation, but I also lost the lid gasket, which if I had known that I could buy a replacement online I would have bought it. Now after 10 years I am finally looking for a new mug. There is nothing wrong with the outer part, the shell, of my mug. I will also buy the gaskets which I believe will bring the installation value up again. So, I can say that Bubba Keg, the 52oz, does live up to the standard of advertisement. The wording in the description above does not say that it will keep the cold liquid cold for 12hrs but it can keep for 12hrs. As for the hot part, I have not used my Bubba Keg for hot liquids, so can't say much about that statement. **Q: Does it have a hole for a straw?** A: The sipping hole on the near end (not in the pictures) is large enough to hold a straw. Thank you. **Q: Does this come with a straw?** A: Mine came with a straw! **Q: Dishwasher safe?** A: I have put my 54oz mug in the dishwasher many times but had I read the instructions, I would not have done so. After having my current cup for about 10yrs, +/-, The cool time has decreased. But I also had to remove the gasket at one point, due to wear and tear. Had I had known that I could have purchased new ones, I would have done so. I believe that this would help with the insulation facture. I am looking to replace my current mug with a new one. after using mine for10 years. I will keep the current mug and buy the replacement gaskets offered here.
