Something Beautiful Remains Review: A Music Gem, Flawless. - I think that when a greatest hits album is released, there are always going to be different points of view because you're not going to find everything you were looking for. But I think that this album has a very good direction. It mainly captures Tina solo hits (From the Ike and Tina era it only includes "PROUD MARY", "RIVER DEEP-MOUNTAIN HIGH" and "NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS") from her 1983 comeback hit "LET'S STAY TOGETHER" going through hits such as "PRIVATE DANCER", "BETTER BE GOOD TO ME", "WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER HERO", "TYPICAL MALE", "TWO PEOPLE", "THE BEST", "STEAMY WINDOWS", "I DON'T WANNA LOSE YOU" to her latest US Top 10 hit "I DON'T WANNA FIGHT", which happened to be the theme of the movie made of her life in 1993. Then you can find Tina's latest hits that were big in Europe but in the US they didn't make it to the Top 10. Songs from this era that started in 1995 with the theme of James Bond's "Goldeneye", you have the track "GOLDENEYE" and singles from her 1996 smash "WILDEST DREAMS" album that brought her hits such as "MISSING YOU", "SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL REMAINS" or "SILENT WINGS". Finally from her latest studio album to date you have "WHATEVER YOU NEED" and "WHEN THE HEARTACHE IS OVER" and her hit duets "IT'S ONLY LOVE" next to Bryan Adams and "COSE DELLA VITA" with Eros Ramazzotti. There are some hits missing in this recopilatory like her 1985 Grammy winning track "ONE OF THE LIVING" which is a song that you can't find on any Tina recopilatory. If you are looking for it, you have to buy the Mad Mad Beyond the Thunderdome Soundtrack. Then her 1992 hit "WAY OF THE WORLD" or even "WHATEVER YOU WANT" which was the first single from the"WILDEST DREAMS" album. The producers must had added this songs intead of "GREAT SPIRITS" which wasn't a even a single or "IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS" or "WHY MUST WE WAIT UNTIL TONIGHT?", singles that are very good but didn't reach the success of the others. Refering to "IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS", it's a pity that you can't find the version next to Barry White that was much better than the one with Antonio Banderas. For this album Tina recorded 3 new songs which are different but they all show that Tina even being 65 when she recorded them, still has her unike strengh when she sings. The new tracks are "OPEN ARMS", "COMPLICATED DISASTER" and the soft and relaxed ballad "SOMETHING SPECIAL". Other highlights from this album is that you can find the original and extended versions of "THE BEST", "LET'S STAY TOGETHER" and "BETTER BE GOOD TO ME" and that for "PROUD MARY" they chose the re-recorded version from 1993 and for "NUTBUSH CITY LIMITS" you can find the orinal version from 1973 which is better that the 2 new versions from 1991 and 1993. That was just my point of view for this album but I think that it's worth it every penny and is simply a must have because captures a big part of a music legend. Review: Wonderful collection of Tina's music from Proud Mary to You'd Better Be Good To me. - This album has some of hte most icon Tina music and makes my car trips all the better because of that.

Not perfect, but the best collection of Tina's solo hits yet
This 2 CD best of retrospective is almost a perfect 5, and in fact if you don't own any of Tina's previous works (shame on you), this would be an excellent point of departure as far as getting an initiation as it takes her 1991 "Simply the Best" collection a notch higher by including songs from 1996's "Wildest Dreams," 1999's "Twenty Four Seven,"a few new songs as well as some great collaborations with her bud Bryan Adams and international phenomenon (except in the US) Eros R. This guy has an amazing voice and complements Tina beautifully. One can always argue with certain song choices over others, but that is why we can grab this collection and take out what you don't love and add your favorites. I am not a huge fan of "Goldeneye" and two of the new songs. My collection would have included (and now includes "Confidential," "All the Woman," "Absolutely Nothing's Changed," the virtually impossible to find "Johnny and Mary" from the `Summer Lovers" soundtrack (guilty pleasure of mine). If you are interested in finding that song I've only seen it on a 3 CD collection titled "The Collected Recordings Sixties to Nineties" (which I don't recommend unless you can find it at a ridiculously low price). I hope that Tina continues to record, even if she stops touring as her voice and rock/pop/soul sensibilities (which she has been criticized for in some circles) make her an original who female singers can look up to in terms of her life and career. The rating 4+ instead of 5 is also due to the absolute lack of informative inserts, career highlights, pictures, and maybe some behind the song tales. This puppy is bare, except to warn the heck out of consumers that copying CDs is worse than hitting you mom. Not a big deal as far as the big picture is concerned, and if you like Tina Turner and don't own much of her work, this is the one to buy.

Fabulous electric collection from the awesome Tina Turner. This dual album keeps grinding out tunes non-stop with passion and soul. It is a celebration of a woman's sexuality. The first album features "Missing You," "Proud Mary" and "Addicted to Love". And if you're not dancing on the ceiling by then, the second includes the smash hit "Private Dancer", "What's Love Got to do with it" and "Hero". Even the secondary songs are heart songs of addicted love and passion. Just listen to the lyrics that betray her soul. What a ride, it is jam packed energy from one of the best female performers ever. You cannot go wrong with this soul concert.
