In our bustling kitchen, we often miss them because they are so quiet... & we have burned food because of it. NOT the case with this AWESOME timer!!!!! YES, the timer IS loud, BUT A) there is a volume option on the back for high or low & B) you can very easily put a piece of tape over the speaker on the back to dampen the sound if "LOW" isn't low enough for you... You'll have to take the battery out. **Q: How do you program memory function?** A: When you put a time (i.e. 10 minutes on timer 2) and the timer goes off just press the number and stop. The next time you use timer 2, hit it twice and 10 minutes will come back up. As long as you don't hit the clear button when you press stop you can always press timer 2 and get 10 minutes. I found this by accident, I home this answers your question. **Q: does it have any magnets inside? looking for timer that is okay around electronics as well.** A: I don't believe that it has any magnets inside.
