The Greatest Secret: A New York Times Bestselling Self-Help Book to End Suffering and Discover Lasting Happiness (The Secret) Review: This book could open the door to everything for you, if you are ready. - I lived this book with her. I could have written it if I was a writer. I so wanted someone to tell the world. and what a wonderful person to tell the world. and she published it on my birthday. In my study group on second life i am reading this book with three other people, then we are sharing. it's a book to read more than once. Review: Be aware of the reviews, then get the book! - Many of the negative reviews aren’t about the book, but are rather about problems with digital copies/ downloads of the book. I’m sure desertcart will sort this. I have the hardbound copy of the book, and for those who are disappointed, I can only say that I got SO much from it; but then I also put all of myself into it. Readers disappointed in the collation of other masters’/ teachers’ quotations and/ or quick summaries of teachings should be delighted rather than displeased. As a professional (British) academic and published scholar (British English, hence the spelling differences that follow), I can’t emphasise enough how wonderful it is to find so many teachings so elegantly organised. Is the typical reader really going to, in earnest, read every work, in entirety, mentioned in Byrne’s work, then select from these works every poignant, most important principle that she has selected for one to become aware of? She spent years, decades doing so. In my own publications, I rely on and reference material that has been “teased apart” over the decades, and I’m grateful that others have done it, just as my students and ‘citers’ are grateful for the years that I’ve put into my own original contribution to the body of knowledge in my fields. But let’s not forget or diminish Byrne’s personal stories woven throughout the text. One might overlook citations, while considering only her personal thoughts and experiences and receive just as much. She pays great tribute to those from whom she’s learned, rather than claiming self-attained enlightenment, awareness — whatever one wishes to call it — without the assistance of great teachers. She is the grateful student, not the “preaching master”. (My own mentor, now passed, told me that the day I stopped learning from and being grateful for my students is the day I should stop teaching. I think Byrne ‘gets this’.) This is the longest ‘product review’ I’ve ever written (among hundreds). Get the book. Receive the information with an open, willing mind, and have an amazing life.

I typically avoid, however
I typically avoid spiritual things that use the word “ secret” because in my lifetime I’ve sometimes found them to be a ploy. However, I read for inspiration to to choose to live as awareness and a book I was reading had a quote I liked in it from The Greatest Secret book, so I decided to get a copy from the library. I was pleased to find quotes in it from many of the books I’ve read and loved over the last twenty years. To my enjoyment, this book is a beautiful overview and inspiration in living as the open Awareness we all are. I ended up purchasing a copy of my own to keep. In my opinion, this book is straightforward and would be a great book to read for someone just getting started settling into living as awareness or for someone who has been for years and enjoys reading for inspiration and focus.

Rhonda Byrne has produced another superb gift to anyone ready to hear it and live it.
As the author states many times, the knowledge and insights she presents have been "discovered", written about and lived by other advanced souls before but the author's ability to bring so many insights into focus and reduce them to the simple single "greatest secret" using contemporary vernacular is her unique skill and gift to those ready to receive it. I absorbed with gratitude and hopefulness The Secret when it first came out. Now in this latest of her books, the author explains in The Greatest Secret the illusion that is common in humanity, the illusion that life as we live it on a daily basis, is factual and all there is to living. The truth, she claims, is that our lives are fabrications based on everything from childhood experiences to social norms, cultural attitudes and behaviors. All of this masks the truth, that we are the creators of our daily experience through the use of our minds and that behind all of this "noise", drama, the ups and downs of daily life, there is a place of perfection, peace and supreme happiness that she refers to as Consciousness. This Consciousness is One, singular and which is our true being and which all of life, truth is made from and of. Once we learn this truth and once we can separate ourselves from identification with our bodies, our minds and regain our awareness of our true Being, we live in a state of complete and total happiness. The day to day struggles to get ahead, to acquire and accumulate, to fix everything from illness to poverty, to free ourselves from the ceaseless effort to achieve, to succeed, to win, from fear and competitiveness we can finally take ultimate pleasure in simply being. We can and do live daily lives, have careers, form families, take trips etc. but they are no longer seen as goals that will fulfill us. They never do anyway but we now can take pleasure in these pursuits and activities for the simple pleasure of the experience more as observers and for the opportunities to grown in greater understanding of our true Self and true purpose. I cannot thank Ms. Byrne more for having given me this gift. I too have, as she has, spent much of my life in study and pursuit of answers, sometimes more intently than at others. I am so grateful that I ran across an interview of her on YouTube that lead me to order the Audible and the printed versions of the book. I imagine I will listen and read this through many times to absorb more and more of the message so I can put it to use increasingly in my daily living. I just completed listening to all six hours of the Audible version in two days and my wife commented when she saw me at the office that I had an unusually warm smile and contented look on my face. (We work together in the same small company and she knew my usual demeanor in the past was quite commonly anything but calm or happy due to the daily stresses and challenges in business). I hope and look forward to this book and this teaching leading to a permanent change in the way in which I view and respond to this world of illusion. Thank you Rhonda.

Good but very out of this world
Good book for feeling good but the ending was different than American Christian principles. However it’s a good book to get an initial feel good and all is well type of feeling. Amazing book but don’t know that it’s down to earth and realistic enough but still an amazing book :)

This has to be my favourite book of all time. I have reread it twice and will read it a third time. I found the chapter on thoughts very helpful since I tend to get caught up in the mind and keep this book available to reread to find clarity and peace. A must read for all on a spiritual path and for those wanting to experience their true nature. Would highly recommend.

Oh my goodness! I would've never thought that I would find all ofmy favourite non-duality teachers in a Rhonda Bhyrne book! And I think she did such an amazing job at puting them all together. It's funny to see that we kind of took the same path... the Direct Path!
