It is now made from Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), same as the other major brand. You can still get the superior polyvinylidene chloride version from two Japanese companies, Asaha Kasei, who partnered with Dow Chemical Company in the early 1950s and uses the Saran name, and Kureha, whose product is called New Krewrap. They are available on Amazon and eBay, although the are 11.8 inch wide rolls from a Asaha Kasei are not currently available on Amazon, only from eBay, although they are available in the Kureha New Krewrap brand on Amazon. Seeing as how the EPA does not think that the 500 tons of vinyl chloride burned after the train wreck in Palastine, Ohio, poses much of a threat to the residents, I think S.C.
