I am using it on my gel plate and I am very pleased with its performance. It behaves nicely with water, too. It is not waterproof, but once dried, it can withstand moisture, e.g., gel medium, collage glues, etc. You get quite a lot of it -- way more than other black inks for about half the price. One caveat: operation of the bottle's nozzle is a bit tricky. I made a small mess because I was not patient enough to learn how to properly dispense the product. So take your time when you are starting out with it. I use it for calligraphy and own a dip pen for it. I know it's also used for sumi-e paintings using a brush, and for that it's sometimes mixed with water. Do not try putting this ink in a fountain pen or a brush with an internal reservoir because it will clog them up. **Q: What color is this ink?** A: Pure black! **Q: can this be used for fountain pens?** A: No, do not use this with fountain pens. It will clog them up. **Q: Is this ink archival?** A: If you can find someone who can read the bottle, the info might be there 😁 If you want archival quality for calligraphy, use artist quality gouache, dilute it to the right strength, and add a few drops of gum arabic.
