Great toy! Holds up and keeps dogs interested in busy from new teething puppy to older dogs!
We went on vacation with cousins who have an active 2 year old black lab. We have a 3 month old black lab. Both are very active. And love to chew. Our cousins had gotten this toy for their dog and it was sun-faded and well-chewed - but in absolutely great shape. The squeakers still work and the toy hasn't fallen apart, shredded, or unraveled. The legs have gotten pulled off (dogs love tags), but the body of the toy is like firehouse, so it really holds up. As soon as we got home we had to buy one and I think we'll buy a couple more. They're not soft per se, but you really don't want it to be in order to have along life. It's a great toy for dogs of all ages and chew-preferences, and with the squeaker, it's interactive and keeps their attention. And there doesn't seem to be any stuffing to mold or fall out - just squaker and hose. We love this and will buy several - so we have one in the truck, in the car, and in the house - at least!

Very Disappointed :(
I've always purchased Outward Hound toys as well as small dog carriers, etc. They have always proven themselves to be superior to other toys. I always hold out for giving reviews, to give the product a while to prove itself, and it's durability. As a professional dog trainer, I have reviewed MANY dog toys with my own dogs along with daycare dogs. For Christmas, I purchased this toy for my Giant Schnauzer pup. I gave him this toy in January as he already had a plethora of other toys, so I decided to save until he needed something fresh. To my surprise, I was completely dissatisfied with this toy. Although the small print states it's not constructed of the fire hose material. My dog in just a few days completely destroyed this toy. The first squeaker came out the first day.. The second day, it was shredded, under supervision. I like to test toys with my own dog and pass on information to my clients as well as determining the toys that will stand up in my daycare. This was a MASSIVE failure.. Within 20 min on the second day, there was red material and threading spread through my living room and a squeaker was completely decimated. My Giant is admittedly an aggressive chewer, hence my reasons for purchasing this toy. The iron eyes and mouth were located floating in my dog's beard. I am truly disappointed with the quality of this toy. I've purchased high-end to cheap toys which in the end is menial. What matters is how well the toy is constructed, and this toy didn't even make the charts. I would love to be a toy tester for a company that wants to put their toys through thoroughly REAL LIFE testing. I am SOOOO disappointed with the manufacturing, materials, and longevity this toy has offered.. Outward Hounds.. you have earned a double thumbs down on this one...

My shepherd LOVES this!!
I was looking for a sturdy dog toy I could toss in the house for my German Shepherd that wouldn't break things if it bounced off his nose when he jumped to catch it and slightly missed, yet wouldn't be immediately mauled to shreds in the first five minutes either. We've been playing with this for over a month now (everyday for 30 to 60 minutes), and it's just now starting to develop holes in the material. I don't leave it with him to chew on, it's only in use while playing, and he does gnaw on it when catching, retrieving and returning it to be thrown again, so I knew that eventually it would suffer from wear and tear, but it has held up better than I expected. The seams are extremely sturdy and haven't come apart at all. Where a hole has developed is right in the middle of the giraffe's tummy, yet it is still usuable. No stuffing coming out at all. I figure it will last another couple weeks before I have to pull out another one to play with (I bought several!)

Verdict: Durable enough to buy again, not durable enough to pretend it’ll survive your dog.
I picked up this long lizard because my Bernese treats most toys like a timed demolition project. Three weeks in, it’s already outperformed every “tough” toy that usually taps out within forty-eight hours. The fabric is thicker, the stitching is tighter, and it holds its shape long enough for him to parade it around like he won a prize. It’s cute, oddly proud-looking, and clearly entertaining him more than the usual lineup of doomed plushies. That said, the legs are living on borrowed time. If you have a power chewer, expect those appendages to vanish first and the rest of the body to follow shortly after. This isn’t a forever toy; it’s a temporary distraction that happens to last longer than the competition. Best for people who enjoy spoiling their dogs and accept that toy mortality is part of the lifestyle. Skip it if you’re aiming for something indestructible. Compared to what I’ve bought before, this one buys me more peace and fewer shreds on the floor. Bottom line: a charming, sturdier-than-average plush that won’t win the war but delivers a solid three weeks of entertainment.

Partially durable for a small dog that's a serious chewer.
Part of this toy seems durable, part of it this 10 pound Pomeranian shredded in minutes. I don't understand why the appendages were make of a weaker material. That's the part a dog is going to latch onto first. I can't say for sure if the main body is made of firehose or not, but I am worried a bit about the stitching. It seems like even if the material holds up, the exposed basic stitching on the edges is prime for chewing apart. I'm planning to cut off the legs and see how the rest holds up.

This is our second purchase of this product. Dogs Favorite Toy
I have a 3-legged American Pit Bull Terrier who absolutely loves this toy. I am so glad I was able to find another on Amazon. He destroyed his last one but it took a while for him to do that and I know he will eventually destroy this one. I have fun watching him play and it doesn't matter to me that it will not last forever. He loves to shake it back and forth like crazy and plays tug of war and catch with it. He drags it around with him like a prized possession. I will be buying more of these. I have included before and some after photos. It is made out of a heavy stiff fire hose material and it has three squeakers in the body. I know that when he destroyed the last one it will eventually fray (hose comes slightly unwoven). When it frayed, I cut the frayed part off and gave it back to him to play some more. The squeakers never came out of it but eventually stopped squeaking right before I tossed it out. Eventually, it only had the middle sections with the squeakers left. The inside has almost a neoprene rubbery lining inside the hose which you will not see unless it is torn apart. He tore the legs off first. They are made out of a thinner material than the hose part of the body. I believe it lasted 6 months or so before I replaced. it.

An epic Tail of Beast vs the Lizard
Prepare yourself for the epic tale of the Biterz Red Lizard Plush, a toy that dared to challenge the indomitable spirit of a tenacious beagle! In a world where dog toys come and go like shooting stars, I set my sights on the mythical Firehose material, believing it would be the ultimate weapon against my new beagle companion's voracious chewing habits. Tales of its legendary durability had reached my ears, and I was determined to put it to the test. As I unveiled the Outward Hound Fire Hose toy, its vibrant colors and an enticing squeak filled the air. Instantly, my wise old beagle locked eyes with it, a spark of curiosity igniting in his soul. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of an epic clash of wills, a battle of canine versus toy. Within mere minutes, my tenacious hound had sunk his mighty teeth into the Fire Biterz Arms, as if challenging the toy to prove its worth. Undeterred, he pressed on, and in just one hour, the toy had succumbed to the beagle's relentless assault, surrendering to the power of his jaws. Two halves now lay before him, perhaps an offering to the other pup in the house, or a strategic move to silence the mischievous squeakers that taunted him. As the hours passed, the toy's fate was sealed, and I, the witness to this epic spectacle, could no longer bear its suffering. The once glorious Biterz Red Lizard Plush now lay broken, its soulless eyes silently pleading for mercy. Though the Fire Hose toy did not endure as long as I had hoped, it revealed the true nature of my canine companion. His might and tenacity are unmatched, driving me on a quest to find a toy that can stand against the storm of his powerful jaws. Thus, the journey continues, as I seek out a legendary toy that will prove worthy of my gallant beagle's strength. This epic tale serves as a warning to all who dare to face the challenge of a determined canine: choose your toys wisely, for only the mightiest will survive the test of time in the paws of my canine warrior!

Dog is obsessed!
I have two dogs that are pretty aggressive chewers. This has lasted longer than many other dog toys. Eventually they damage it and I do have to toss it, but it holds up well.

Hundespielzeug Feuerwehrschlauch
Was will man mehr? Einfach supi.
