This is a really useful practice book for Year 1 children. The activities are clear, engaging, and well suited to their age and ability level. It’s great for daily practice and helps children build confidence in English, especially with reading, spelling, and basic language skills. I also like that the exercises are easy to fit into a daily routine without feeling overwhelming. A great resource for both home learning and extra practice. Highly recommended!

I can be very particular about workbooks. I home educate my daughter and I want something clear, concise and uncomplicated but that’s also engaging. For me CGP books are perfect. Great supplement to school as they follow the school terms and national curriculum but also great for home education as it gives you a framework to follow. Yes you need to teach around it and it doesn’t teach concepts per se but practices them. We will be using these throughout our education journey.

My little one (over 4yrs old) is really interested in learning, even the school start is still 7 months away for him. He loves this book, each page builds for previous pages' learnings, so it is a well-edited learning tool for starting on Phonics. This book is one of the 3 what is recommended for a reception year child (3 book=3 school terms, built on each other: Autumn "sip", Spring "bees", Summer "quacks"). Supports/matches the National Curriculum as all the other CGP books. My little one absolutely enjoys learning with these books and although one page's tasks are for one day, my little one completes 5-10 pages each times when he comes to me and says "Let's do some tasks of the book(s)!" Summary - absolutely recommended!

4.5 year old loved this. It aligned beautifully with the curriculum at school and has really consolidated her learning. It seems to work best for her when it is just left at the kitchen table and she can pick it up unprompted. I have just bought the book for the new term!
