It's soft and has a strap and the pencil holder is great! I don't know what the deal is - but the battery drains daily with no use! It doesn't shut off when closed, so I had to make sure I turn it off - which isn't easy with this case. The real issue is that the battery drains. Returning it is a pain so it's another thing on the pile. I'm going back to my old case which never had an issue with the battery draining.
