Tired of welding helmets that in max size still perch on top of your head? This replacement head gear is a nice, relatively affordable way to find out if this is the brand of welding helmet for you. I bought this headgear just to sample the size. The adjustment knob was a pleasant surprise as I started cranking it out all the way, as it is the nicest one I have found on a welding helmet or hard hat to date. And when the headgear actually went onto my head, rather than perching on top, and didn’t even try to cut off all blood flow to my scalp, I knew I had found a winner. I liked it enough to hint to my wife to buy a helmet that uses this headgear for an anniversary gift. I’m loving the hemet just as much.

I used the the original “band” style headgear that came with my, everyday used, fibermetal hood and hated that it would never stay on my head straight. I also used the fibermetal ratchet headgear and it too soon became awkward since the ratchet wouldn’t stay tight and kept sliding off my head. This Jackson headgear is comfortable all day thanks to the pad in the back and the superb ratchet that keeps the hood on your head in all positions. To make this headgear fit my pipeliner all I had to do was enlarge the square holes on the hood to round 1/2” holes as explained in other reviews.

I bought this because the headgear on my supplied-air respirator fell apart due to embrittlement of the plastic. I had to make a minor mod to adapt this headgear to the supplied-air respirator but that took maybe 10 minutes. now it's repaired and working fine. Those respirator helmets are expensive, so this being available saved me quite a lot of money. Your mileage may vary, but it worked for me. Turns out that this is the exact replacement for one of my welding helmets; it's good to know that there's parts available for that but I've had the welding helmet for at least 15 years and the original headgear is still fine.

Absolutely love this head gear in my 1989 Chopped Jackson non flip up I custom chopped, added leather, rivets, and auto darkening. This head gear goes in so easily and fits so comfortable. 1 main feature i personally am happy about is the forward back adjustment to have hood closer or further from the eyes. The ratchet adjustment is very easy and locks without movement. Finally anyone can appreciate the locking position when hood is up all the way so no creeping or having it move on you unless you loosen it up to Flip R Down then Weld Somethin'!!!!!!

I bought replacement headgear for an old welding helmet as need several for my grandkids to watch as they're wanting to learn to weld.

Got this as it seemed like a well built head gear with a quality knob to thighten it. My cheap head gear on my welding helmet broke so this seemed like a nice replacement choice. It did not fit for my helmet at first, so I drilled bigger holes to fit the pivot screw shoulder and added two tiny holes for the adjustment pivot bracket so it was positioned the right way to work with openning and closing of the helmet. After that, I tried it and it work very well. Pro quality. There is a nice clicked open lock position feature that holds up the helmet up. Then, just a little swing of the neck and it closes to start welding fast. Very well designed, rear adjustment knob is big and easy to reach and find with gloves on.

Very comfortable . Had to drill a little hole for the nipple that fits on side of mask . It didn't line up with original hole but no big deal . Good ajusting and hold mask up well.
