Ikea Lavia Desk is great for a small nook computer desk. The back has a caveat great for placing pencil, pen holders, and miscellaneous desktop items. Although small, it is spacious and is great for utility. Review: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE - A litter smaller than I thought it would be, but very nice looking! Not the easiest to put together, but about the typical time you would assume it would take to put a desk together. The back has a slit so you can put cords through and a little "shelf" to put a surge protector on (or anything else you want). It's great for small items you want to hide or other items on a different level so they don't spill! Review: So easy a caveman could do it? I think not!!! - So I bought this desk as its Ikea, the definition of 1/2 brain dead easy to assemble furniture. The directions were easy enough to understand, however non of the pieces are labled. I was down on all fours counting pre-drilled holes to make sure I had the right piece. Once I have all that sorted and I start to essemble the desk, things are going fine until the predrilled holes aren't lining up. Obviously I made a mistake and carefully take it all apart again (problem, i really want to do a god job and make this a solid desk so i'm using Gorilla Glue). After careful study of the directions, that i got wrong, I put it together to other way only to find out hat I had it right the first time and Ikea forgot to drill the pre-drilled holes. Off to the garage to fetch the drill. After an hour of feeling like a stoned caveman trying to comprehend an alon key a finally got ot all together with a few extra screws (if they didn't drill the hole and it wasn't a supporting joint, then it didn't need it, right?) I get it all together with a lot of help from my friend Gorilla Glue and it is ready for my pre-teens to destroy. What I learned from this is to put it all together first then use the glue and Gorilla Glue is to furniture as duct tape is to quick auto repairs. I'll also point out that I have a back ground in construction and carpentry. I have put together more Ikea crap then I care to remember and this (i hope) most have just been defective unit. If I had an Ikea near by I would have returned it and demanded a refund and damages. On the bright side my kids have a desk I don't care about anf my wife laughed her ass off at me.

I have put together a few pieces of furniture in my 67 years but this was by far the most messed up one. The directions-or lack of clear directions was terrible. I finally got it right but was very disgusted. I am female and not afraid to try new things but this was the pitts!! It seems very sturdy once I got it together but it wasn't worth the effort.

Small but mighty!
This is the little desk that solved a big problem for us. We had a particularly unusable space under a window that took up valuable real estate in a tiny rental suite we had. W looked high and low locally for a small desk that could fit into both width wise and depth wise so that it would be flush with the neighbouring wall. Not an easy task. The local options were mostly junk and simply didn't fit the space. We then found this little gem online, measured three times and crossed our fingers. Once it arrived we were impressed by how sturdy the little thing was once built and the finish looked great as well. Low and behold it fit. Perfectly. Have used it daily for a few months now and really like it. Only beef is that the open channel at the back (being full width) really limits how far back you can set your monitor. Other than that, we are happy.

Difficult to assemble
It is too difficult to assemble, I have to throw it away! It is a waste of money until and unless if you are a handyman

Perfect for my teenager's bedroom'
Great price, easy to assemble (my 14 yr old son did it by himself) and a very simple piece of furniture! I bought writing desks for each of my teens because we recently moved to an apartment. This thing is the perfect size, matches the rest of the Ikea furniture in his room and doesn't take up too much space!

Weird design
Self assembly which was easy, even I, a female could put this together, but the design is strange. The back on top has a space that no one can figure out its purpose.

small and not that sturdy, but it's okay for a small room
Hi. I'm an actor and writer living in New York City and this desk is good for the small rooms in New York City, but if you're living elsewhere, I'd say skip on buying this desk. Why? It's not that sturdy. It's okay for a laptop or a writer with minimal possessions, but it basically doesn't fit too much stuff. So, if you're a minimalist writer, like me, living in a small space--my room is 6' wide x 10' long x 10' height, this desk will work. But for all others, I'd recommend you go to a thrift store and buy something that is same price or less that is sturdier. Ikea is all the hype these days because of hipsters and other trustafarians, but I'm not into Ikea. Their products are cheaply made and although they seem like they are cool and European quality, they are mostly garbage.
