I only need 1 so having an extra is great. When using these for adjustment they should be hard. I put it under the original sole in my shoe. Foot doesn't slide forward like some others. BTW this is almost, but not quite an inch. 2.54 = 1 inch Review: Heavier folks take note - These lifts are OK but it's mostly cork material with a very, very thin layer of foam (maybe memory foam). I wear it on one foot playing baseball due to an Achilles injury, something about my pivot foot and the torque when swinging a bat. I'd ordered a 2cm, loved it completely -- until about 3 games in and I noticed the pain returning. Sure enough, the 2cm was squished down to about 1.5cm (if that). The height didn't return, unfortunately, but I still liked it enough to order the 3cm version, planning ahead. I'll post some photos so you can see the difference. Now, that said, I'm sure I give this thing a pounding (6 foot 2 and 235 lbs), so my experience may be totally different than yours. But I wouldn't expect so much loss in only 3 games, probably about 10 - 12 hours on it total. If you're walking around the mall and need the extra lift, they may work just fine. It may be that it compresses a bit but NOT notice the difference. In my case I have a very specific issue and that small difference I can actually feel. It could compress to a finite point, I'm not 100% sure.
