Review: Secure and Flexible Installation but Creativity May Be Required (2021 Subaru Outback) - I could make this a pretty complicated and lengthy review, but I"m not going to. I could also talk myself into a less than five star rating, but I didn't see any similar product that would do as well and the end result is excellent, so five stars it is. What I would tell you: 1. SECURE MOUNTING REALLY MATTERS. When I finished, I had a 2.5# Amerex Halotron mounted securely under the front of the driver's seat. My install is basically bulletproof, but I had to modify the installation. Secure mounting is very important, more important even than quick access in my opinion. Vehicles are involved in high-G accidents (collisions, rollovers, etc.) far, far more often than vehicle fires. You do NOT want a fire extinguisher becoming a projectile in an accident. Modern vehicles are extremely good at protecting occupants from injury - even a small fire extinguisher flying around could kill someone if there's a head impact. Five stars for secure mounting, no question, though on my 2021 Subaru Outback Touring XT I had to modify the installation (see below). 2. HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS/GOOD DESIGN. Five stars here too. At least for a smaller fire extinguisher, this will be bombproof if installed correctly. An extinguisher in the 2.5# range is great. If very securely installed, you might get a 5# extinguisher mounted securely. The materials here are high quality. The various parts of the mount are good steel with what looks like a good quality powder coating. The holes are accurately placed and properly tapped. The fasteners are stainless steel (extra credit for that). Perhaps we should be able to take those things for granted, but there's a lot of garbage on the market. The same goes for the design. It's simple, flexible, strong and secure if properly installed. One area where the flexibility of this design turned out to matter was how the fire extinguisher was spaced horizontally. You can set it up so the head of the unit is either on the inside or outside, and you can move the central part of the mount left or right to clear the seat mounts/rails or to reduce the chances of snagging your feet when you enter or exit. This is a big plus. 3. CREATIVITY MAY BE REQUIRED. The two installation methods in the instructions (which I thought were adequately clear and detailed) will probably take care of most vehicles. They weren't going to work securely on my vehicle. The front seat rails are shaped in a way that would make it hard if not impossible to get what I consider an accident-proof installation, and the plastic trim around the seat rails makes the installation more challenging if you don't want to rip out the trim around the seat rails. That would probably be a rational and only minimally visually disruptive choice, but I wanted something a little more polished. What I did is very simple to describe. In real life, working at the front edge/half under the driver's seat slowed things down. Basically, I replaced the set screw that is tightened against the seat rails to clamp the mount with socket-head screws that thread through the existing tapped holes in the clamps into new holes that I drilled and tapped in the inside side of the seat rails. Easy to describe. Properly positioning the holes, drilling them very low on the rails, and driving a tap (M6 x 1.0) to cut threads on the new seat rail holes wound up taking more time than you'd think it should, and getting the side clamp pieces tight against the seat rails when both pieces are threaded requires some care and attention. I'm still giving this five stars here, but if your vehicle is one of probably very few that don't really work easily with the generic installation you'll need to use some ingenuity and care...but the other mounts I looked at didn't look like they were going to allow me to get creative with a secure installation, which is why I'm going with five stars here. If you expect that something like this should fit every vehicle ever made and install securely in five minutes or less, you'd probably give it fewer stars. 3. RANDOM NOTES. - Be aware that depending on your installation, there may be seat adjustment issues. I have mine installed almost touching the front/bottom of the driver's seat. I'm tall and the seat is nearly all the way at the back of its adjustment range. So, someone who's short enough (which would be most people) isn't going to be able to adjust the seat to move it forward - without removing the fire extinguisher and mount. And if they do, unless you have a sedan with an enclosed trunk, where are you going to put that missile-fire extinguisher? - The instructions recommend using blue Loctite thread locker (242) or similar. That seems like a good idea. You don't want the various fasteners becoming loose as a result of vibrations. - I spent a fair bit of time retrieving fasteners that I'd dropped...because they rolled under the seat and then into a space below the interior floor pan and the outer floor pan. I could have saved myself a lot of time if I'd stuff a t-shirt or hand towel under the seat to stop that.
Review: Excellent solution for mounting a fire extinguisher without drilling - I purchased the Bracketeer to mount a 2.5 lb Kidde fire extinguisher under the passenger seat of my 2001 Porsche Boxster. Installation was straightforward and required no drilling or permanent modifications to the car. The bracket feels sturdy, well-made, and uses the factory seat mounting points for a clean, professional-looking installation. The multiple mounting slots made it easy to position the extinguisher exactly where I wanted it, and the finished setup looks almost factory-installed. Passenger footwell space was minimally affected, and the extinguisher remains easily accessible from the driver’s seat. I was able to use the extinguisher cradle supplied with my Kidde extinguisher and attach it directly to the Bracketeer. The installation feels secure and stable, without rattling noise, and has held up well so far. One note for Porsche owners: while the Bracketeer worked perfectly in my Boxster, it did not fit my 1986 Porsche 944 with manual seats due to interference from the seat adjustment controls on the right hand side of the seat. This is more of a vehicle-specific fitment issue than a problem with the product itself, but it may be worth considering if you have a 944 or another vehicle with similar manual seat hardware. Overall, this is a well-designed, sturdy mount and an excellent option if you want to add a fire extinguisher without drilling holes or making permanent modifications.

**Q: Does it come with the clamp that goes around the extinguisher or do you have to get your own?**
A: The Bracketeer Car Fire Extinguisher Bracket uses the plastic cradle with strap that comes with the Kidde fire extinguishers that are recommended. We have found that this provides a secure mounting solution for most regular street applications.For extreme conditions, such as motor sports or off road applications we recommend the optional Kidde 2-strap metal cradle part number 466465KID. It's around $10 and available from various vendors online.

**Q: Does the fire extinguisher come with it or you have it purchase one separately ?**
A: You'll need to purchase one separately.  Great product by the way.  I have installed two in my Dodge Ram and one in my wife's Ford Edge.

**Q: Will this work on a 2012 BMW 535i?**
A: I have installed one in a 2012 BMW 550i - so I am sure it will be fine. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good bracket but nowhere near a 15-minute install...

This bracket is composed of multiple well-designed pieces that can probably be made to fit in 95% of all vehicles. However that design flexibility means that you will probably end up spending a fair bit of time trying out various configurations in order to get the best installation possible for YOUR vehicle. The photos are from my Jeep Grand Cherokee, so they may be helpful if you have one of those (model WK2 including years 2011-2022). Basically, the primary recommended installation technique (using the seat rails) didn't turn out to be the best one in my case, so I had to use the alternate installation method: The alternate method uses the bolts that hold the front seat to the floor, which you can see by examining the pictures closely. I also arranged things to tuck the extinguisher as tightly back under the front passenger seat as possible. (This limits maximum forward seat travel by a bit, but not enough to bother anyone.) (The pictures also show a towel stuffed under the front seat, which I did due to advice in another review, which was a fantastic tip and saved me from fishing dropped screws out from under the seat or possibly losing them altogether--and trust me, you WILL be dropping screws while assembling this.) One drawback to using the front seat bolts (at least in my vehicle) is that the factory bolts have retained washers (meaning you can't get them off) that won't fit down into the square end of the end-brackets. So I had to order some M10 hex-headed 40mm bolts and matching M10 20mm washers, and because you can't just order 2 of each, that wound up costing me another 20 bucks. In the end, it took me a couple of hours on each of three different evenings to finalize this installation: The first night was wasted trying to do the install the recommended way, using the seat rails. The next night was spent figuring out that I was going to need to use the front seat bolts and ordering replacement parts, and the remaining night was spent finishing things up. However the finished installation is everything I was hoping for, and I might even hack the trim covers for the front seat bolts so that they can fit with the bracket installed to make it look even cleaner. (Well, maybe, if I get around to it, eventually...) I probably would have given this 5 stars if they had included good installation photos and advice for my particular vehicle on their website, but instead they just show random customer installations, some of which honestly look a little sketchy---thus the subtracted star. Otherwise, sure---good bracket.
