It's an inexpensive knife, but built very well. 2 fingers go into the holes, the rest of your fingers gripping on the underside of the blade and on the notched side of the blade iteslf. It might seem awkward, but you will be able to figure out a comfortable and useable way to hold and handle it very quickly. The blade is strong and thick, sharp right out of the box too. A light sharpening and you are MORE than set. The thing I really like is that the sheath it comes with can be placed horizontally on a belt, meaning that this can be carried in a very concealed manner without bulging, sagging down on your rump or dangling around your kneck (unless you prefer that--it does come with a lanyard). The sheath is solid, holds the knife well, and you can deploy this knife easily. I'd say this is a very user-friendly knife that could be handy in a tricky situation. Has a nice weight and balance to it and is super sharp. The holster keeps the blade affixed snugly until it comes time to use it. If you need a sharp little neck knife, this is a great one to have.
