I think, if I remember correctly, the shade goes by a number 2, 3, 4, but look closely to the shades, I suggest you choose one step darker than your complextion. The numbers do not really match the shade, they should have put #2 light, #3 medium, #4 dark, so be careful of the shade. Hope this helped.

Do I need to have a sharpener for the concealer pencils?

Yes, but the wonder concealer pencil really works, I have used concealer sticks and concealer cream before, but none of them work! The wonder concealer pencil can cover the blemishes on my face perfectly, I love it!

Can I cover dark circles with the wonder concealer pencil?

I tried it and it’s a bit uncomfortable since the wood pencil scrapes the skin. Also, the concealer part is a bit chalky and can irritate the sensitive under eye area.

Yes it does mean the shade, but I think the shades really do not add up to the number. Just look at the colors real close, even if you have to maximize it. I ordered a medium, but it was a little light, I am medium tone. I suggest order a color one step darker than your complection. Hope this has helped. I really do like the pencils very much.
