The full metal tubes that you see in the front and back do not come apart, and they are probably at least 3-4 feet long. Also it's somewhat heavy. I would not personally consider it portable, although if someone wanted to they could take it apart and pack it in a large box or perhaps a large duffel bag and check it in for airport traveling. But again it's quite heavy, and quite large, so I would say almost all the people I know wouldn't do that. Having said that, I would tell you this is definitely worth having, it is by far and way the single best machine for both abdominals and lower back muscles that I have ever used.
