    Good read.

This book is low angst, which I like. I love Cookie and Jay together, how their very different life experiences make them a great couple. The secondary characters are well developed and I hope we will see more from them. The story held my interest from start to finish, I enjoyed the visit to the theatre to see Poison, and the crew. Overall I enjoyed this book, am looking forward to more from this extended veteran family. Hopefully there will be audio too.

Could have easily been a 5* read if the author had proofed this better and done a little more research.

This was my first read by this author and I don't think it'll be my last. It was pretty close to being a 5* review, but for the many silly typos and mistakes in it (despite two named proofers and a named editor) and because the author didn't really 'go there'.By the latter, I meant that she set her tale in Cambridge and London and yet didn't really make us see the cities. She mentions loving Cambridge, but didn't really mention a thing about it other than punting. She mentioned a market in Greenwich, and shop fronts near Charing Cross, but working opposite that very place, I can tell you that there aren't very many shop fronts, unless you venture up the road to Covent Garden. And, Charing Cross isn't the West End, strictly. On top, she talks about veterans, a term which isn't really used in the UK and 'making out' which again isn't used ('snog' or perhaps even 'suck face' might be more used). She mentions research into vets and amputees, but there isn't really any evidence of that, as we don't even get to know exactly where Amir's leg was amputated. If you want a 5* read where there's a real tale of vets, of hardships, of life in and out of the forces, I can wholeheartedly recommend Melanie Hansen's Everything Changes. The author should also have known that Amir is not an Indian name, but a Muslim one; perhaps she was thinking of Amar? Little things such as these took me out of the book, as did the rather abrupt ending.Back to the book itself - it's sweet, rather romantic and believable, despite all of the above, and I could see the leads together. It had warmth, it had real characters and some sweet, romantic sex, not hot, raunchy stuff - which suited the tale and the leads. We also get a glimpse of a couple of characters who seemingly have two books of their own and who came across as sweet and sexy enough to make me want to check out their tales. I'd certainly read more by this author.

Such a beautiful book. For once you didn’t have all the drama you normally find in books and I personally find repetitive.Cookies is about Amir and Jay.Amir is still trying to come to terms with the impact of coming back from Afghanistan. He lost a leg and still has many triggers but you can feel the fight in him, he may feel like less of a man at times but he is truly remarkable, a hero. He owns Cookie’s, where he bakes what sounds like amazing cookies and this is where he meets Jay.Sweet Jay, I feel in love with him as quickly as Amir did. He was sweet and fiercely loyal. He saw Amir for the man he is and saw past the scars Amir has (inside and out). He seemed to have a past where he may have been used before but that gave him such an endearing vulnerability. This book is also based around a centre that helps war veterans. The characters that go to the centre were great, you really felt like you was there and part of the family. It also really opens your eyes to what these people have to live with when they return from fighting for our country. We really need to do more for these people!! I loved what Jay brought to the table to help the centre.Together, Amir and Jay were a perfect couple. They brought the best out in each other and had a connection will blow you away. There sexual chemistry was off the charts, and those moments were captured beautify.I cannot wait to see if Shane and Greg get a book, they just have to.I loved Teodora’s writing style and I’m so glad I have found this author, I will continue to read her books! A few have already spiked my interest.I would highly recommend this book!*ARC copy
