Description

Product Description The King's Singers releases the complete Italian madrigal collection Il Trionfo di Dori. Commissioned by Venetian nobleman Leonardo Sanudo in 1592, the collection features 29 works, each written by a different composer and poet, and set for nine voices. Among them are Vecchi, Gabrieli, Marenzio, de Monte, Striggio, Anerio, Gastoldi, Porta and Palestrina. Review "The King's Singers offer the quintessential madrigal sound, leaning on the notes almost to the point of creating overtones with an instrumental quality. They sound as much like a string sextet as an a cappella vocal ensemble...their exuberance is every bit as infectious and their superlative musicianship always in evidence." --Joanne Sydney Lessner, Opera News, October 2015
