Mushroom Farming Button mushroom spawns are produced using pure culture obtained from the Directorate of Mushroom Research in Solan and are grown on autoclaved wheat grains in stringent aseptic conditions. One kilogram of spawns must be combined with 80 to 100 kilograms of compost made from wheat straw (either using the long or short technique) and containing between 70 and 80 percent moisture. Farming Method After packaging in plastic bags, 25 to 30 holes were punctured in a concentric pattern using a sterile sac needle to provide adequate aeration. To achieve the best CO2 concentration, the bags should be maintained in a small space and misted with water four to five times per day. Mushroom mycelium will cover the bag completely in two to three weeks (spawn run), and in another two to three weeks, oyster white mushrooms will appear.
