Review: I had never stitched a bead before... - I bought this book because I was curious about bead-weaving. I had never stitched a bead before. Since reading this book and working the various stitches it's taught me, I am now hooked on bead weaving. Right Angle Weave, Peyote, dutch spiral, even the seemingly difficult St. Petersburg chain and Herringbone, I can do them all and love beading them! This book is perfect for any beginner who wants to learn how to make seed bead jewelry but always thought it was too complex. I purchased this book not knowing a thing and shortly after learning the various stitches and beading 'language' I find myself mixing stitches for unique pieces and even selling a necklace! It is my 'go to' book if I forgot how to do something and the diagrams could not be more comprehensive. Many books just show shaded diagrams and I found them hard to follow. This book takes you step by step and includes photos of a person holding the beads with thread in hand, so you can compare what your doing to what it 'should' look like. There are also correction photos: 'does your work look like this?' is written next to a photo which often times I would answer 'yes..' They then tell you exactly what was done wrong and how to correct it. I can go on and on about how this book inspired me and taught me but I will end my review with this: If you ever thought of bead-weaving and are searching for a book that is easy to follow, will teach you the language, tools, bead sizes, what to watch out for, and what materials work best - then look no further, you found it. Review: Very well written and pictures for clarity - At first I was disappointed thinking I ordered my first book and find out my skill level is more advanced. Yes, but no. This book goes into depth, with pictures for clarity, on a variety of beadweaving tips and tricks. With just one little "Did you know...?" my brick stitch has greatly improved. I have been interested in wire wrapping but you can never get clear answers, well you do in this book. I am attaching a picture of the contents so that you can see if it may have the topic you are looking to learn more about. I am happy with my purchase, I would definitely recommend it, and already have.

I'm so happy I purchased this book! It's a keeper for sure.
I am a beginning beader so I have a million questions. I purchased (3) books that different reviews suggested would answer my questions. I could have just purchased 200 Beading Tips, Techniques & Trade Secrets by Jean Power. This book starts out answering the base questions and has pictures to help you understand the concept. She shows the tools you need and has some wonderful tips that made me think - "I'd never have thought of that" several times each section. It has a wonderful Glossary and a very helpful Index. I doubt that I will get around to reading the other two books because I just don't think I'll end up with any unanswered questions. What are natural beads? How do you make a good knot? What tools do I need; what do they look like: how do I use these tools. Using thread, wire, cord or ribbon it shows you the tools, knots, and just about all you need to know to make beautiful jewelry. I'm glad I have it and doubt that I will ever feel that I don't need it any more.

Heavy emphasis on jewelry
Excellent book for jewelry making. However, the reason I am looking for books like this is to make homemade Christmas ornaments and home decorations from beadwork. Kind of the way crochet turned to little creatures and that's a trend, I'm sensing the trend of these little crafts that it used to be, kids made at camp. Wreaths, snowflakes, etc. Plus I'm noticing some things that you might want in a dollhouse. I made a chandelier last year from a kit and then expanded it so it was even larger than the instructions said. I made coach house lights. I wish I had a dollhouse. Or a young cousin with one. Wire and beads can make some adorable things. But there are no books I'm aware of. Yet there are tons of people with the talent. Or there wouldn't be kits. If publishing houses think we don't want to buy books about it, they're totally wrong. I don't want to search the internet on hundreds of mostly the same keywords and keep having to eliminate the jewelry hits and try to go back to the crafty decorative ones. I've tried, it's a mess out there. WE NEED A BOOK! Look what I made last year. This book is not about that. So if that's what you're looking for, this isn't it. But it does have a few pages about wire, and some good information about tools. And if you're looking for Jewelry, then this is a great book, so I didn't vote it down. For its purpose, it's great. Just not for what I want to make. The snowflake I made is from a kit with added embellishments and a stiff frame for longevity. I was hoping for projects like that. That's where the book lost a star.

Great beginning book
From the ground up. I purchased this book with some knowledge about jewelry making. I found things in this book I did not know. There is a bit of everything in here. The author speaks in layman terms, sometimes a little too much, but other times you will learn something new. This book has everything from wire working, bead working with the basic stitching patterns, techniques, tools, and terminology. At the time I purchased this book, knowing it had a little wire working in it, I thought I would never be able to do that type of work. But after going through this book, the author makes it look fun and not too complicated, that now I purchased a couple extra pliers to delve into embellishing my beads. This is a great beginner book to always have on hand.

Just about everything you wanted to know about making jewelry . . . .
Whether you are a novice jewelry maker, seasoned or intermediate, this book is for you. It has so many illustrations and written instructions for just about everything you could possibly want to know about jewelry making plus a few things you probably didn't know about. The photographs are bright and vivid and show detail which I am so grateful for! Step by step photos with instructions are so very helpful. The instructions are not hard to follow and make it seem so easy to do and best of all it is! It even has photos of the different kinds of tools that are available and how to use them and what they are for. Every thing you need to know and things that you should know are in this book. I have been making jewelry for a while and even though I thought I knew a lot, this book taught me a few things or two. The only thing I would change about this book is that I would make it in hardcover. Will I be recommending this book to others? Absolutely as it is a "must have" for your craft or jewelry making library!

So many projects, so little time!
I love this book! From beginning to end, this book explains everything you need to know about how to make beaded jewelry. Not only does it explain the various tools that are available, but it also shows how to use each tool and when. For each technique, it provides a project to try, noting how many beads of each color are needed (but also makes it very easy to substitute your own favorite colors). Learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc. I highly recommend it if you’re brand new to beading or even if you have some experience with beading, this book will enhance your knowledge.

Great reference book for jewelry makers
I'm relatively new (just over a year) in the jewelry making business so this book provides rich detail on, really, anything you'd need to get started as well as to reference back when you've hit a puzzle in your project. There are plenty of beading ideas out there both in books and especially on Pintrest, however many of these patterns/pictures don't help you puzzle through the more difficult process of finishing your work. I've picked this book up time and again to see not just how to do something, but how to execute it in the BEST manner. There are photos that show you how not to do as well as how TO do, which is very helpful. I also appreciate the very detailed photos that accompany the narrative. I find, too often, that instructions will tell you to "close your wire loop", however if you've never done that, the photos will show you how. The details and instructions in this book have allowed me to create my own small jewelry business. With the knowledge I've gained, I've been creating quality products that stand up to wearing, and that's not always the case with "homemade" jewelry pieces. I like and appreciate this book and do recommend it.
