Afterward, I also bought the glow in the dark version with the glowing hands and numbers on the black face. The glow in the dark clock slipped off the wall hook and fell. The face cover cracked and broke into pieces. It sure seems like glass to me. Very sharp edges. I removed what remained. The other clock with the white face seems more like an acrylic but I'm not going to drop it to find out. Fortunately the glow in the dark clock seems to work fine without the glass face cover, but I feel stupid for not being more careful. For a moment, I considered sending it back and claiming that it was broken when I received it, but it was packed much better than the other and that seemed very inlikely...and that would be lying, so I'll live with my mistake. **Q: Where is this clock made in and design by whom** A: The clock was designed by our team in New York. It is made in China. **Q: How thick/deep is this clock (wall to front face of clock)? I need one that is very thin.** A: The clock is 1-7/8 inches thick as mounted on the wall. So, depends on your idea of what is "extremely thin". I have it mounted on a wall diagonally next to a window and it does not appeal to be obtrusive. The background noise is not the clock but a pump 😅Original:I have two of these Sharp Atomic clocks and honestly love them. I really hate resetting clocks for daylight savings (why is that even still a thing?) and these set themselves.I have two notes though. The first is that they tend to reset themselves in the middle of the night. I work nights, so looking up to find my clock spinning around like it's possessed is a little strange, even after several years.The other thing they both do is in the middle of the night, at the top of the hour like 1, 2, or 3 am, the second hand will stop at 12 for a few minutes. It still tracks minutes perfectly, but from :00 to :04 or so, the second hand is frozen at 12. I have no idea why they do this, couldn't find anything about it anywhere on Google. But, it resumes and keeps perfect time, so it's just an oddity.I'm pretty sensitive to ticking noises, and I cannot hear this clock tick unless my head is right next to it and the room is quiet. 15 feet away on the wall, I don't hear it at night at all, ever. It's a good size I can see across a fairly large room in my home (open floorplan), but isn't enormous or anything. Very simple, classic looking, easy to read clock face too.I'm poor and $40 is a lot for a wall clock. It does take a while for it to find the atomic signal and sync to the correct time but you just need to be patient. I have 2 of them in my house and they are both accurate. The glow is decent but if it's in an area with less light it obviously doesn't glow as well. The numbers are easy to read even at night. It is not a silent clock it does make a deep tick but it's not loud either.
