Will this fit the 22 short model ?

The NAA website shows the folding grip to fit only the 22LR. I would buy the 22 LR. With cci minimag 33grain hollow points, you'll get 12-13 inch penetration

will the gun ride ok in your pocket and not dig a hole with the muzzle? I don't really want to use the clip part just stick it in my front pocket.

As I sit here and read your question this gun is in my pocket right now with the clip holding it in place. I've been doing this daily for almost a year without any sign of the gun wearing a hole in my jeans. The gun will be pretty much invisible because it's so small and the clip holds it flat against your hip. Plus it's so comfortable you'll forget you have a gun in your pocket.

Can I purchase a extra cover panel?

If you went to the company direct and asked them they may sell you a separate piece. On Amazon probably not.
