Review: Solved my long term lower back issues - For all the reviews that say this leaks... the 1st one I had (which I got from my physical therapist) did begin to start leaking air. I've had this replacement for over a year now, and it has held up fine. I'm sure it will eventually begin to leak (after all, it's plastic). When it does, I'll simply replace it. In my opinion, $45 is a very inexpensive price to pay to be pain free from sciatica and lower back problems. I had lower back problems for over 30 years, and have tried almost everything. This simple piece of equipment finally gave me a long term solution. I did have a minor flair up last summer, but pulled out my stabilizer and used it. After a couple days, I was pain free again. Now, I try to make sure I use it at least once a week for maintenance. I highly recommend.
Review: Effective feedback on form during certain core exercises but is a little pricey - I discovered this contraption in physical therapy after herniating a disc in my lumbar spine. I had to strengthen my deep core muscles to stabilize my spine and alleviate symptoms of the herniation. This item helps make seemingly easy exercises much harder and more effective by providing feedback on your form. I felt it was so effective, that I bought my own to use after I was done with physical therapy. Highly recommended for those who want feedback on correct form and real results. My only complaint is that it seems kind of expensive for what it is. I've seen manual blood pressure measurement kits significantly cheaper, and this is pretty much the same concept with a pad rather than the arm band. I wasn't able to find a more affordable alternate brand though, so I bit the bullet and paid up.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How is this different from any other blood pressure laid flat to teach core stabilization?**
A: Blood pressure cuffs are designed to slowly leak the air - this does not. I am a Physical Therapist and have used the Stabilizer for years with patients. I have at times tried using basic blood pressure cuffs for the feedback - with limited and frustrating success. The concept is the same - air in a bladder moves causing the needle fluctuate. The blood pressure cuff can substitute fairly well for neck stabilization exercises, but not so good on the back as it will slowly leak and you don't know if you are moving the spine during the exercise or the air is just leaking out.

**Q: would you please describe to me how this works and what it's purpose is.**
A: It goes under your lower back. The very bottom of it touching the top of your pelvis. It lets you know that by keeping the needle on 40 that both side of your body are working evenly, not one side taking over for the other. Helps strengthen your core. Very good for Lowe lower back injury or SI joint disorder

**Q: how do I use it??????**
A: Lie on your back with the baffle chamber under the small of your back. Inflate the chamber enough to fill the space between the small of your back and the floor. Check the pressure valve. As you tighten your stomach muscles or do some of the easier exercises in the book, the pressure should not change if you are only using your stomach muscles vs. using your back to help. I used this in physical therapy for sciatica and bought one to use at home because it helped so much. This is from their website: The STABILIZER Pressure Biofeedback is a simple device used to provide feedback to ensure quality and precision in exercise performance and testing. In the physical therapy clinic, the STABILIZER monitors the position of the low back and provides feedback to the physical therapist and patient when the abdominal and back muscles are not actively or effectively protecting the spine. The STABILIZER is simple enough to use during your home exercise program to provide sensitive feedback on the positional changes of your lower back, while performing back exercises.I hope this helps

**Q: Does it come with a book of excersizes or do you need to purchase one separately?**
A: It comes with a book with some exercises. I did other exercises that my therapist gave me. I don't recommend this as after a few moths it leaked air and was useless then. It's very overpriced too. I bought a cheaper one 'Idass' I think was the name. Much cheaper and hasn't leaked air yet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Does the Job!
*by S***N on June 13, 2013*

I do like this product. I was a little concerned at first because there are some reviews out there saying that it wouldn't last. After receiving the product, I think it should have no problems lasting as long as you use it properly. The regulator/pump seems to be of very good quality with pre-marked bands as to where you need to maintain the pressure during exercises. The blue air bag is made of pastic. Probably any reliability issues are happening where the plastic tube from the regulator enters the bag. I could see where if you squashed the airbag by sitting on it or doing something similar that it may cause that connection to fail. However, if you use it as intended, I can't see why it wouldn't last. I would have rated the product 5 stars except I think the price is high. You could get the same thing from a traditional blood pressure cup set up. I'm not sure how much they cost.
