Makes very nice sake.
I use this to make sake that I then use to make rice vinegar. It works very well and I get very good sake. The vinegar that comes from it is very good also.

Great product!
I originally got this for rice wine (sake) but decided to use this for Kome-koji instead. I discovered yellow koji is better for rice wine making, but the Kome-koji this product makes its really good! Thanks for the quick delivery and quality product!

Sake!
It works! It did make my koji rice a little yellow in appearance but my sake tasted good when it was done so it definitely works!

Just the mold spores. Small packet
As some have said, the pictures are misleading. This is only the Loki mold spores in a small packet. I haven’t used them yet, but have no reason to fault them. Just don’t get a lot for the money, as compared to the way the picture looks.

Works great
If you're using this because you want to make sake like I did, just be aware this is for making koji, which is one of the ingredients you need to make the rice ferment, not the sake itself. This isn't actually sake yeast, you'll still need that from your local brew store or wherever. The instructions on the back of this packet probably work to make basic sake, but I used more detailed instructions I found online. This packet is probably good for 2-3 batches (you don't need the entire packet if you mix the rice with your fingers every 12 hours), and to keep the temperature warm I set one of my baking dishes on top of a seed warmer, which kept it about 90 degrees. Once the mold begins growing it will warm up to about 102-204 degrees, and after 40 hours or so put it in the refrigerator to stop its growth. I made two batches with this and probably could've gotten one more out of it.

Great!
This stuff is potent, at a great price. I've used it to make koji rice for miso, sake, and soy sauce, and i still have quite a bit of the packet left! Also - koji rice is a spectacular way to tenderize steaks, roasts, really any meat! If you rub it onto the surface of even a mediocre steak and leave it in the fridge for a few days, those little moldies work their magic and tenderize the crap out of it! ....mmmm, now I want steak. Anyway, great product.

Used for sale, enough for several batches
Used this to my a batch of sake with 2kg of rice. It ha enough to make 4 batches of this size. Worked really well. I had thought my steamed rice was too dry, but after 48 hours I had white mold on it and added to to the fermenter and it is going really well.

A little more than I thought it should cost but it's nice that it has start to finish directions on the package for novices like me. Haven't tried it yet but with instructions how can you mess up.

This went to a serious experienced brewer and it was very complicated and laborious.
