Go for SWIFT COMPOUND MICROSCOPE SW200DL or something better. This one is made in China but is a reputed GERMAN design. **Q: Is this too fiddly for a 5 year old to enjoy?** A: I think a careful 5 year old would be fine when supervised by an adult.
