This is a Thai variety that I find has a "nuttier" taste than similar Himalayan/Bhutanese red rice. The cooking instructions included with this rice call for an initial stir-fry of the uncooked grains. Don't skip this step -- it adds to the flavor and consistency. The price is obviously a bit higher than plain white or Basmati rice but the flavor (and color) makes for a nice change in Indian or Asian dishes.
