Cause and effect is an essential reading comprehension skill for all subject areas. Help students understand cause and effect using Spotlight on Reading: Cause and Effect for grades 5–6. This 48-page book includes a variety of high-interest lessons and activities that make learning fun! The exercises increase in difficulty as the book progresses, so students practice more-advanced skills as they work. With a variety of formats, teachers can provide direct instruction, reinforcement, and independent practice throughout the year. This book is perfect for practice at home and school and includes an answer key. It aligns with state, national, and Canadian provincial standards. Review: Lacking in schools - This book (and book series in general) has a lot to do with making inferences based on common knowledge that the particular age group knows. I didn't realize it until I started home schooling, but my son had absolutely no understanding of cause and effect. It simply wasn't taught in school. We started out at the 2nd grade level and worked him up to 4th grade. Now he often looks at something and on his own simply says "oh I'm sure this happened because of such n such", and he's usually pretty dead on. This definitely helps kids/students piece together what they're looking at and how it came to be which also helps with accountability for themselves and how they affect a situation. I have bought three years worth of these books because even at the second grade level, my son advanced so much, and I will buy again each grade as needed. Highly recommend. Review: this is a great book. - Hi, This is a great book for your kids to learn about cause and effect. I have bought all of them 1-5 great books

Great for teaching the concept
Great for teaching the concept. I use it to help teach cause and effect reasoning in sessions and then generalize the concept. I also used to be an English teacher and would have liked to have the book when I taught the concept in class.
