FWIW, I am a women's 9 to 9.5 (with a thin foot but a high arch), and I sustained a mid-foot injury where wrapping was recommended by podiatrist. I measured my foot and was right on the line between M and L, so I bought a pair of the M (figuring I needed them to be tight). I figured right and these have been a lot of help and they fit in most shoes, unlike wrapping, even with "vet tape". However, perhaps due to my high arches, I cannot sleep in them but must take off at the end of the day even for comfortable relaxing in the recliner.Therefore, measure your foot and if near the limits for a size, (1) if you need compression, size down, but (2) if you need to sleep in them, size up. BTW, I chose this brand because the cuff appeared loosest of the the brands on Amazon -- Did not want to constrict my ankles. They are not LOOSE of course, but I have sport socks that make a deeper indent. If you are diabetic or have circulatory disorder, you should probably seek advice from your physician. **Q: Does this compress the top of the foot at all? I need light-medium compression for a stress fracture and am tired of using wraps.** A: Yes. I had plantar fasciitis on the right foot & my left foot was sore just below my big toe. I wore both socks & it fixed both. The snug fit compressed my feet & that's what healed my left foot too. I tried to wrap my left foot & it was too bulky to walk & wear shoes in. The pink pair I got in my January 6, 2024 order is not the same quality. It's very loose and slides down my ankle and up my foot. Basically it bunches around my ankle area. I'm constantly pulling it back into place. It's frustrating to remove socks and shoes constantly to adjust. Based on my experience and looking at the reviews, the quality has changed. --- I have plantar fasciitis and own two pair of these compression hose. They are wonderful to wear every day all day. I forget I have them on. They help with the pain and I feel more secure. My ankles also like to roll. The pay don’t help that, but it doesn’t happen as often. Maybe because they secure the rest of my feet and tendons? My shoe size varies depending on the make and cut of shoe. Most are sized 9.5, particularly my sneakers. I bought the size large and they fit nicely. Probably a little loose if I wanted tight compression, but I just wanted a light compression sock.
