## Overview

The Optolong 2" L-Pro Light Pollution Filter is a precision multi-bandpass filter designed to suppress common urban light pollution sources while enhancing key nebula emission lines with ~90% transmission. Crafted with aerospace-grade aluminum and multi-layer anti-reflective coatings, it delivers sharp, high-contrast astrophotography with natural color balance, making it a top choice for broadband deep-sky imaging under suburban to moderately light-polluted skies.

## Description

Optolong L-Pro (L-Professional) is a multi-bandpass filter which selectively suppresses the transmission of light pollution lines. For example, mercury vapor lamps, high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and skyglow caused by emission from neutral oxygen in our atmosphere. L-Pro enhances the transmission of major emissions from nebula while offering great colour balance with its wide yet effective light pollution cutting transmission band. The balanced transmission allows objects with wide emission spectrum such as galaxies to be imaged with minimal colour cast (easier to correct in post-processing). Among the emission lines enhanced are OIII (496, 500nm), H-beta (486nm), NII (654, 658nm), H-alpha (656nm) and SII (672nm).

Review: Great filter for Bortle 7 skies of the suburbs and retains decent color balance - I like the Optolong L-enHance filter a lot, but it is pretty narrow in the Ha and OIII, so sometimes star colors are hard to preserve. This L-Pro filter is a decent compromise for my Bortle 7 suburban skies. I get good contrast in my images and fairly natural colors as well. I think this is a good filter for broadband targets like galaxies, star clusters and some comets. L-enHance is probably better for emission nebula like M57, NGC7000 and the Helix.

I like the Optolong L-enHance filter a lot, but it is pretty narrow in the Ha and OIII, so sometimes star colors are hard to preserve. This L-Pro filter is a decent compromise for my Bortle 7 suburban skies. I get good contrast in my images and fairly natural colors as well. I think this is a good filter for broadband targets like galaxies, star clusters and some comets. L-enHance is probably better for emission nebula like M57, NGC7000 and the Helix.

I'm in a heavy light pollution Bortle 8 class, I couldn't image the night sky without this filter. Super high quality, it's a relatively narrow band quad filter. it's my all around go to filter for galaxies star clusters, and even comets. In my city lights, I have gradient to deal with, but better that than washed out or no images at all. I was so impressed that I also purchased the dual narrow band filter for nebulas. For context, I'm using ZWO and QHY astro-photography cameras.
