These have been great for my emerging reader. My first grader loves Lalaloopsy anything. The stories in this phonics set are interesting including many new words for the child to learn. The illustrations give great picture clues to aid in reading the new words along with a repetitive line that will appear though out the story to assist in predictability (much like Bob's books but a lot more fun!) Highly recommended

Since there are no reviews of this up yet, I wanted to make sure to include as much as I can about it since I'm sure a lot of you are interested in it. To start with, there are 10 stories and two workbooks, just like the description says. The story books are about 10 pages long with each page having about 4-8 sentences. Each book has a focus of a long or short vowel sound. Here is a list of the books: Book 1: Dot Can! - Short A Book 2: Best Pets - Short E Book 3: Pick-Me-Up Basket - Short I Book 4: Spot's Dots - Short O Book 5: When I Grow Up - Short U Book 6: Make Some Fun! - Long A (A/E) Book 7: Side By Side - Long I Book 8: Who Wrote The Note? - Long O Book 9: That's The Rule! - Long U Book 10: Sweet Friends - Long E (EE/EA) Book 11: Workbook 1 - Short Vowels Book 12: Workbook 2 - Long Vowels Each book has a list of practice words on the back that are highlighted in bold throughout the story. The carrying case that the books come in is nice and sturdy and each book is good quality. The stories have a nice mix of characters in them and are short and sweet. While the age range in the description says 4 to 8, I would definitely say that the workbooks are not for the beginning of that age group. I bought these for my 4 year old more so I could read the stories along with her and point out the spelling of the words and how they rhyme. All in all, for less than $10, I think this was a good buy. She is in love with Lalaloopsy anything, so she pays attention to the stories and is a little more interested in the learning aspect than some other books I've tried.

I bought this for my 5-year-old daughter for Christmas, and the set is absolutely fantastic for a little one who is just learning to read. She really likes Lalaloopsy-anything, so I knew these would interest her right off the bat. The books are short, but do a good job of focusing on different vowel sounds and bold specific words in each book to help her practice. It's fun for her and I to read together, and I love watching her mind expand as she sounds out her words. I highly recommend this for any parent looking for something to help branch out their first-time reader's skill set.
