Easy timer with a convenient magnet on the back so you can stick it to your refrigerator
This is a great timer. It's actually the second time I purchased it - the first one was probably purchased about 7 years ago and I dropped it one too many times so I had to get another one but at this price, I think I got my use out of it. I love it because it has a magnet on the back so I can place it on the refrigerator. But I would recommend putting it on the side of your fridge (if that's an option) because if it's on the front, I tended to knock it off a bunch and that's why it eventually broke. The timer itself is great. You simply hit the buttons to set it for how long you want and then to reset back to zero, you hold them both to zero them out. When the timer goes off, it's a good loud volume and the buzz goes off for a while so if you're in the other room, you'll hear it. After maybe a minute or two, the buzzer does stop though. It doesn't restart (like a snooze button) so if you didn't hear it because you were really far away, you're out of luck. But it is pretty loud so I've never missed the buzz. One thing I noticed from my first one was that over time, some of the sides of the numbers started not lighting up. BUT I think that my dropping it so many times definitely contributed to this. Even with this though, I was always able to set it so I still used it and it always worked. The new one's numbers are very bright and easy to see.

Good for the easily-distracted
I owned this timer for several years and it worked very well and keeps accurate times, unlike the turn-the-dial types. The best things about it are the magnet and the clip. I am easily distracted and forgetful, so having a magnet on the back meant I could always stick it on the fridge so it wouldn't get lost. I used the clip constantly because I would put something in the oven or put a load of laundry in the washer, go off to do something else and forget about it. When I got this timer, I would set it for the food or laundry and clip it to my pants pocket, so no matter what I am doing, it will go off and remind me that, yes, I've got cookies in the oven or laundry getting wrinkly in the dryer. It's cheap, useful, and helps you multitask. I love it so much I'm buying it a second time (the first one disappeared in a move).

Works for Me
What the other reviewers are saying about the low sound quality is true, you will not be able to hear the beep if you are in another room. However, it works for me since I use this timer to time myself in practice exams. I am usually in the library studying, and of course timing myself and it does not usually bother the people around me. You can hold the minutes and seconds button down to silently set the time instead of hearing a beep for each min/sec pressed. The plastic face will eventually be scratched with wear and tear. Cons: -No-name cheap battery -The magnet on the back is attached to the battery lid, and the lid, while not having a cheap-feel, still seems like it can chip or break, whereas than you would need some tape. -The battery lid will also suffer from the constant pulling of the magnet away from whatever it's sticking to, meaning the lid isn't as secure as it could be -No on/off switch, so the battery will drain...but I don't think it needs that much juice to function Pros: -The magnet on the back is strong -Small, convenient, works as expected -Good price (I've seen some other ones out there that is better, like faberware, but you can't beat $5) -The wire-band resistance thingy for the clip is also strong, so you can clip it on anything deems fit and it will stay I only gave it a 4 out of 5 because I've had it only for a couple of weeks. After some more time, I'll come back and give it a 3 or 5 out of 5 depending on how well it keeps.

cute little timer
This is a perfect little timer. I bought it over three months ago and it still works great. The display face is big and easy to read. There are only three buttons that are super simple to operate. There are three ways to display it: there is a magnet on the back, also a clip and a flip down piece of metal that creates a stand (I don't think I described that very well so I included a photo). This timer gets a work out from me because I work at a desk from home all day long. I set the timer for 20 minute intervals to remind me to get up and walk around. It requires one AAA battery, which comes with it, and I am still on the one it came with. I love it.

Junk remake of a decent old timer
Final edit: I've taken this from three starts down to one, because after a few weeks of use, the start/stop button on both timers is way too sensitive and ends up pushing itself twice when you push it once. This means the timer will never go off a lot of the time (because it stops as soon as you start it due to the second press), or will go off again in the memorized amount of time (because it starts again as soon as you stop it when the timer's going off). The old version of this timer had lost its magnet and its back-stand has broken off too, but still has a louder, clearer alarm and proper button sensitivity compared to both copies of the new version. Ugh. Original review and one older update follows: I actually have three of these timers, but the third is an older design with a less-blocky logo, silver paint for the middle part, and no "reset" guide painted on it. I've had the old one for years and it's still working, though the seconds button is a little finicky sometimes and it lost both its magnet and the back plastic part of the stand ages ago. The old timer has a higher-pitched beep/alarm than the new ones. The louder new timer has about the same volume as the old timer. The quieter new timer is essentially useless one room away with no doors in the way. I bought the new timers to jury-rigg into multi-timer since none of the multi-timers I saw on Amazon had immediate access to both timers, and/or weren't defaulted to remembering the last time-setting used. With that in mind, the purchase is no big loss and I intend to move the frankentimer to whatever location I'm waiting, which will help negate the issue with the one timer being too quiet... or I might just use the old timer and the louder new timer together and let the quiet one stay loose. Update: Changing the batteries in both new timers helped the quieter one become as loud as the other (no change on the louder one), but the volume on both is diminished by the surfaces covered with the duct tape I used to frankentimer the thing together. It's not buried under the tape by any means, as I used it as minimally as I could while making the frankentimer structurally sound, but I definitely can't recommend these timers for a project like that. I've gone ahead and ordered two Wrenwane kitchen timers of the obnoxiously-loud-timer sort because after a few weeks of using the frankentimer I am sick of not being able to hear it properly (due to forgetting I left it a room away with open spaces between me and the timer, or dared to put on heaphones with the timer sitting two feet away).

So-so mechanism
A little less than two years ago I bought one of these AND a slightly more expensive competitors model from Amazon to keep one in kitchen and one in the living room for comparison to see which was better. I started with cheaper well-rated models and both worked fine at first although the alarm volumes were both low. As time passed, they both functioned well but the other's sound volume began to degrade (I pitched it a long while ago and don't remember brand). After a while it started giving me button problems and I tossed it. The Taylor mechanical process still works well after that time but its volume too has dropped to almost inaudible even with it no more than 1-1/2' from my ear in a quiet space. I am in the process of replacing it but I think it was worth the price despite expecting it to last longer. It will still serve well to time short events where I can watch the timer count down (or up).

Nice and Cheap(ly) Made
I loved this Timer when I first used it for about Five Months, a few times a Week. Then the little holder for the spring-loaded back-stand broke in both places. I could no longer stand it up or attach it to Metal (e.g., a Microwave or Refrigerator). VERY thin and cheap Plastic Construction. It could not be repaired. In short, if you need a Timer with a Magnet that works, or need to stand your Timer up on a Counter, look elsewhere. I should have believed the earlier postings. My foolishness, my loss. Now this Timer is a hand-held Accessory, only. I did like that it had Large Numbers, and would return to your last time until you cleared it (great for grilling Steaks). This Timer was made in China and is very light. I bought it to repalce a sturdier West Bend Timer--Made in British Hong Kong--that lasted me 25 Years. It also has a similar Back-Stand and Magnet--still functionng perfectly (the electronics finally went wonky). Once Burned, Twice Shy, as the English say.... Addendum/Update: After posting this Review I went to my Taylor Timer paperwork and realized that this Taylor Timer was Warranted For One Year. I dutifully went to their Website, followed their insructions, and mailed it off to New Mexico with USPS Tracking. It arrived in two days. I waited 3 Weeks for the replacement's arrival--to no avail. I then called their Customer Service Department, and explained the situation. The very nice and polite Lady there had me read off the Model Number from the package (part of the UPC Code), and ordered a replacement for me. I received it two days later. Moral: (1) Keep all Receipts and Packaging until the Warranty Period ends, and (2) Don't depend on Website information--always call and confirm all details. As it turns out they only ship UPS, and I have a P.O. Box, so I had to provide a Home Address--no worries. This was NOT stated on their Website. The slacker who received the broken Timer just threw it in a pile and forgot it--no e-mail, phone call, or letter (all this information was given with the broken Timer). Hence the 3 Week delay. Grrr. But the Nice Lady fixed it, so now I am a Happy Camper again, as I really do like this Timer. I hope this one holds together for more than five months of once-a-week to twice-a-week usage. Addedum/Update #2: The same part broke again within two weeks of occasional use. I can still use the Timer, but it will not stand up on the Kickstand--which also holds the Magnet--as that is what broke. Extremely poor engineering, and Materials used. If you want a Timer you can set on a counter, or magnetically attach to a Microvave or Stove, this is NOT THE ONE. Look elsewhere. I tried two of them, then gave up. I keep it in my pocket now--a big hassle when I'm cooking.

Simple but gets the job done!
This digital kitchen timer is sturdy and has a strong magnet clip attached at it base. I can attest to its strength as I have dropped it on my kitchen floor several times and it does not have any damage and continues to operate well. The beeping is loud and repetitive enough for me to hear at the back of my apartment and this timer has saved me countless times while cooking/baking. I also use this timer when I am cleaning and organizing around my apartment and I'm short on time and have other appointments or errands that I need to make. I am happy with my purchase of this product and plan on gifting this products in the future to some of my friends/family that enjoy cooking and baking!

I love how it saves the last programmed time
I bought this for a tooth brushing timer for my four year old. Since it saves the last programmed time, all he has to do is hit "start" when he's ready to brush his teeth: at the end, it automatically resets. It's really easy to use (e.g. to reset), and has both a magnet and a clip, so it's versatile. And it was only five bucks- a total steal!

Easy to use. Stick to the fridge magnetically making it handy to use.
I’ve had a couple of these over the years. It’s a useful part of my kitchen. Keeps me from forgetting the pizza baking away. Easily distracted. I also set it to try and get a chore done before it dings. Such fun.
