If i were to by this hub here on amazon will i need to inform bt to activate complete wifi?

I bought it as an upgrade for a much older BT hub. I did not inform BT and activating WiFi was straightforward. It's a good product and only needs this unit on my desk. Hope this helps.

Does this support Ultrafast, fibre to the home connections (is there a red port at the back)?

I’m on adsl2+ with bt home hub 4, will it be easy to switch?

I'm unable to answer your question directly but the fact you are still on h hub 4 means you should be thinking of upgrading to Smart Hub 2 any way! I am on smart hub 2 and have not had a moments problem. If Wi Fi coverage a bit poor in areas then buy with a black (not White) complete coverage disc-works a dream and sets its self up! Best of luck with the change over.
