LS916 Retro Handset

Works really well, sure gets a lot of attention- people looking. Blocks out a lot of road noise for the wife when I'm driving, easier to hear. Grandma doesn't hear so well, plus she can't get used to holding a newfangled cell phone to her ear, so it works great when she's speaking with family. A good product, glad we got it.

I got this for a few reasons and it's working for them all. 1) I sometimes feel like I can't make my cell phone loud enough and adding this gives me additional volume. 2) I don't like the way it feels using a flat cell phone for long conversations and getting makeup on the screen. 3) When I am on my phone and need to see something else (calendar, email, etc) on my phone at the same time, I don't like putting it on speaker. My kids make fun of me because it looks so old-fashioned, but it works great for me since I work from home and no longer use a landline. I love it!

I was disappointed to discover that the volume control is a three position switch rather a continuous slider, but the real problem is that I was unable to get it to work at all with my iPhone. Yes, I followed the instructions and toggled the “audio” switch. I tried two different mini-phone-to-Lightning adapters (that recommended by Amazon) and the result was the same whether the handset was connected or not: nothing.

I really wanted this to work out! The quality of the handset is great. It's sturdy and looks n feels just like an old school landline. But my phone picked up interference no matter what I did. Apparently this is a common issue as there is a troubleshooting section in the manual that addresses just this. It advises you to toggle between channels and unplug, replug, unplug, replug until you have a decent sounding connection on both sides. I tried several phone calls and either heard music, an echo, static, another person's phone call..... I will be returning this and trying another brand. Some of the other reviewers did not have this problem, so I would say to give it a shot and see if it works out for you. Who knows, your phone could be a perfect match.

Good old-fashioned headset. Works pretty well, although not with every phone. Decent sound quality although I wish it could get louder. Now I just have to get the old-fashioned shoulder rest.

Just the look I get from strangers on the street as I pass them while talking on this is worth the price alone! For those old enough to remember rotary and push button phones with this type of receiver, this is a fun and quirky device to connect to a regular cel phone. I actually keep my cel in my pocket (or fanny pack) while connected to it. The audio is clear and it has controls to allow you to answer without touching your cel. A great gadget that combines the 'old' with the 'new' for 'nostalgic boomers' and those with a love of phone tech from the past.

I bought the handset a several years ago (which I still have) and everywhere I went people were fascinated with the old-school charm. For me, it served a great purpose because I didn't like putting my face to the phone and I didn't like using my speaker for everyone to hear my conversation. I was disappointed that it didn't fit my new phone when I got an upgrade, but I still have it and I'm waiting to purchase one that will fit my present phone.

I bought this for an 86 year old man that had a lot of trouble using a cell phone. No one could have a conversation with him on his phone. This retro phone has been a miracle. Didn't have to do anything except plug it into his cell phone. He answers his cell phone with a button on the new receiver and talks into it like he remembers doing in the "old days". He sounds crisp and clear. No more hanging up on everyone, no more "I can't hear you" . This has been a blessing. So glad I came across it and gave it a try! I did put a white sticker on the answer button...........it makes it a visual reminder of how to answer.
