Why I ordered this item: My old CPU was choking on newer games and I wanted something with more cores without spending a ton. The 6-core, 12-thread setup on this one looked like a good jump for the price. Likes: * This thing is zippy. Games run smooth now, even with a bunch of Chrome tabs open in the background. * The included Wraith Stealth cooler kept it cool without the fans ever ramping up loud, even when I was messing with overclocking. I was ready to buy an aftermarket cooler and didn't need to. * It's quiet. I can barely hear my case fans over it, let alone the cooler itself. * Overclocking was super fun to mess with. I bumped the clock up a bit in BIOS and it ran without a single crash. * Popped the old chip out, dropped this one into my AM4 board, and every pin lined up right away. No likes: * Stock cooler paste job was kind of jacked up out of the box, a little uneven on one side. Didn't cause problems but it was a little concerning to see. * If your motherboard's BIOS is old you'll need to update it before this thing boots. Mine didn't post the first time and I had to look that up. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: This chip is a great pick if you're gaming and don't want to spend crazy money on a CPU. The stock cooler stayed quiet through everything I threw at it, so most people won't need to buy anything else. Just double check your motherboard's BIOS version before you drop it in.

This CPU has been the heart of my main desktop for years and it's still going without a single issue. It handles everything I throw at it and I've never felt like it was the bottleneck in my setup. I built a custom rig around 9-10 years ago i running Windows 7 with GIGABYTE motherboard, stock cooler, 8 gigs of mediocre RAM, Cooler Master mid tower, Corsair 850W power supply and 4 hard drives in the inside bays PLUS 3 other external drives and a MSI R6870 video card. I got the free upgrade to Windows 10 pro and little by little my rig started failing. I did my research for a new custom build but not rich. I read all the positive reviews on this new CPU so started saving money to build a new rig. I bought a new MSI Unify motherboard (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YWF1G9S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), 16 gigs of Rip Jaws memory, www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X8DVDZZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1, bought an Adata 1TB M,2 NVME drive, for my OS, (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K1J3C23/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), bought a new video card (MSI Gaming Radeon RX 5600 XT Boost Clock: 1600 MHz 192-bit 6GB GDDR6 DP/HDMI Dual Torx 3.0 Fans Freesync DirectX 12 Ready Graphics Card (RX 5600 XT MECH OC) and went to work. I addeda 3TB and 2TB hard drive to this rig for storage and I can't say how happy I am. This CPU is FAST and for the price, you cant beat it. I'm not a gamer but do music and video editing and this CPU flies through everything I throw at it. My old system used to take about 4 minutes to boot. NOW, my system boots in less than 20 seconds. I didn't add all this new fancy, smancy water cooling stuff and my temps stay at around 90 degrees fahrenheit. I'm VERY happy with this CPU and even let the kid play a couple of games now and then online. If you are on a budget, as I, get this CPU as your center piece and build around it. Remember, it is an AMD 4 CPU so you may have to upgrade to DDR4 RAM and save your money for a X570 Chipset motherboard so you get the most bang for your buck. Don't forget to get an M.2 NVME Gen 4 SSD for super fast loading of programs. I'm not into overclocking but you can overclock this CPU if you wish.

As time goes on, the drivers and hardware will be built in and it will become more plug-and-play. This CPU is an absolute steal for the price. With performance comparable to higher-end Intel CPUs at half the cost, this is the solution for anyone who uses a computer for gaming and other applications. While Intel might pull ahead slightly in a strictly gaming sense, this CPU keeps up and absolutely excels when you add in other programs running at the same time. Paired with a GeForce 1070, this CPU is running modern games at 1080p 144fps without breaking a sweat. It's a nice bonus that I don't have to close out of the other apps running on my PC, such as streaming software, since the CPU welcomes the challenge of multiple applications. Pair it with some high speed (3000mhz+) RAM and an SSD to really see how fast your PC can go. For $200, this CPU is a no-brainer if you get your hands on a motherboard with an AM4+ socket. The included cooler is decent if you won't be overclocking but I chose to use an aftermarket cooler to optimize temps. There's not much to say for ease of installation: you lift the retention arm on your motherboard and match up the triangle corners on the CPU and motherboard and then gently place it into the slot. It'll "drop" in and then you'll be good to go.

I update my computer builds about every 3-5 years depending on tech cycles. My last processor was an intel i5-7600K and it worked fine for my needs, until programs got progressively more crazy and I found myself as a professional graphic designer trying to work with Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop/After effects all at the same time. After 5 or so crashes and hangups, I decided it was that time to upgrade. I've never used an AMD processor before but I know enough that it doesn't make any difference for installation. But wow, has technology advanced in 3 years! I purchased this with a MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX (One of the few boards which come with the 3600 Ryzen bios update preinstalled.) Installation was as simple as dropping it into the slot in the correct orientation. Unfortunately neither of my CPU coolers had an AM4 mounting bracket, so I was forced to use the included Wraith cooler. While definitely beefier than intel heatsinks, it's woefully under-prepared for how much heat the 3600 can produce. With the included wraith cooler I can work, I can play light games, but anything that requires more power like Overwatch or whatnot will (during summer) overheat this chip in no time at all, causing a shutdown. But! I can now easily run all my design programs with each other with barely any lag, hangups, and they haven't crashed yet. I kept my GTX1080 graphics card, and Overwatch ran at a consistent 120 FPS during hectic fights at mostly epic graphics settings. Whereas with my older processor it would drop to 70FPS or thereabouts. Point is, the processor can make a huge difference with all the programs like Discord and various launchers and chat programs which are always running at the same time as a game. TLDR. Very good processor for the money. Way more than enough for most peoples needs, and plenty good enough for the budget power user. The only downside is the included wraith cooler, while the Ryzen 3600X comes with the better-reviewed Spire cooler for a little more money. Well, I have great coolers - just need to update the brackets for the current generation of sockets.

AMD has really done a great job in catching up and overtaking Intel. The Ryzen 5 3600 was, hands-down, the best budget CPU when I purchased it in 2020. For $200, this thing is an absolute powerhouse. This CPU will easily handle ANY games you throw at it, and can even stream at the same time without maxing out (at least from my experience). It ranks VERY well against its contemporaries (as long as you don't use UserBenchmark). It does run a bit hot, but the Wraith cooler that comes with it is enough to keep thermals within comfortable ranges. I use a 120mm AIO (which isn't the best CPU cooling method) and I rarely hit temperatures that exceed 75 while gaming. One thing I should definitely say now, in the era of Intel 11th-gen and AMD Ryzen 5000, this CPU is not worth it at prices above $200. The i5-10400 is running at $150-175. It may not be as good as the 3600, but it still is a good CPU and is much more affordable. Seeing this listing here that has the CPU at $240 is not good considering that we are in the era of Ryzen 5000 and Intel-11, AND Intel is tanking the prices of its 10th-generation processors. I am AMD all the way, but if AMD still wants to out-compete Intel in previous-generation sales, they will have to get competitive in the price area. If they do, then this CPU will definitely be a no-brainer buy for a budget builder since this CPU is still more than viable now. TL;DR - Worth it for $200 in 2020, not worth $240 in 2021 with the existence of Ryzen 5000 and Intel 11th-Gen. Still a very capable GPU for gamers. Would be more than worth it if price dropped to around $175.

Great CPU. It has definitely been an upgrade over what was is in my system before (Intel i7 860). Plus, the packaging was not only clean and without breaks. But (and I didn't know this), a layer of thermal paste was already on the CPU coolers bottom, which helped because I had forgotten to order some. Would recommend this CPU for someone wanting to build a medium-budget computer as not only does the CPU perform well but is still cheap for the performance you get.

初自作です。コストパフォーマンスが良いとネットで見て 初心者ながら色々情報を集めた結果、このCPUにしました。相性の問題も起こらず起動できています。 あらゆる動作がきびきびしていて非常に快適です。 流石6コア/12スレッド、ブラウジングやゲーム、ペイントソフトや動画鑑賞などのマルチタスクでも 私の使用環境では処理が遅くなることなく使うことができています。暖かさは、付属のクーラーで十分に冷やせてとても良い。しかも、そのクーラーのデザインもかなりかっこいいのでオーバークロックしないならわざわざ別のクーラーを買う必要はないだろう。ただ、値段が少し張るのがたまにきずだ。最近は、インテルのcpuの値段もかなり下がってきている。amdはコスパがウリだったけど、少しそこは薄れたかも。まとめると、とてもいいcpuだが、インテルのcpuにコスパでは負けるといったところ。自分はとても気に入っているのでおすすめではある。
