The heel is a bit chunky, and it has great support/slightly rigid mid-sole with flex, which is helpful for larger runners. It has enough cushion in the front to support a front/mid foot strike. I am 5'9" and 235 lbs. An average workout for me is 3-5 miles at 12 minutes/mile 2-3 times per week. I use this as an outdoor pavement running/jogging shoe. It has reflective elements for added visibility at night. They also run 1/2 to 1 whole size smaller than normal running shoes as Zoot sizes are based off of a sockless foot, so order a size up. Highly recommended as a big distance trainer for sub-200lb runners. For larger runners, check out the Zoot Diego.
