Guerlain Shalimar Eau De Parfums Spray, 1 Ounce

My wife got hooked on Shalamar when we were newly married. After 53 years, I'm still buying it for her. Even though it's quite pricey, it makes her happy and when you have a happy wife who smells good, you have a happy life. Some people have said that they don't think this is the real stuff and possibly a knock off, but if it is, my wife does not know the difference and she's quite experienced with Shalamar. I would say the bottles that we got were real.

Love this scent . I was in my 30’s and come across this while cleaning a much older woman’s house and the bottle intrigued me, thought it was pretty so I gave it a try, been my fragrance ever since:)

The fragrance is exactly the scent I remember one of my friend’s mother wearing. I’m 71, and remembered how much I liked that scent when I was a teenager! And, what a surprise! A small travel size EDT was sent, too. That’s really a nice surprise! Thank you!!😊

My grandmother has worn this for decades. Needless to say, I love the smell, but it’s also an association thing. I’m sure plenty of people would consider a “grandma” perfume... the scent is definitely not very modern. However, you can tell it’s an incredible quality. The scent stays on all day, and doesn’t break down like other scents. Even though it smells slightly different on each person, it still seems to work for any person I’ve known to try it. I’m not able to describe scents very well. I couldn’t pick out an individual one if my life depended on it. I do know that I once saw it described as “the classic Oriental perfume,” and while I couldn’t identify a perfume’s category, I can understand the description. When I first smell it, I notice the musk (and I typically hate musky perfumes), then spices, then almost like a sweetness. When I say spices, I mean like when you smell cinnamon or something like that, and by sweet, I mean like when you smell something baking, like vanilla. I know it sounds like I’m describing a musk mixed with cinnamon buns (which, hey, if that’s your thing), but it’s not at all what it smells like, it’s almost like how it feels. Baking is really the only reference I have for scents, I don’t wear them often, and body sprays and the like usually gag me. Most perfumes either nauseate me immediately or after I’ve had them on for a few hours. This one never makes me sick. As I said, I normally hate musks, but this doesn’t seem to be like most of the ones you find in stores. Imagine a room that was done in lots of dark, jewel toned colors, with all kinds of velvets and fur and leather pieces.... but someone’s baking in the kitchen and it’s wafting through (and no, I don’t mean those canned cinnabons, I mean like if someone’s baking some Thomas Keller-level stuff with real vanilla beans and all that). Definitely a naughty but nice feel to it, but a very luxe version of it.

I love Shalimar! I have been using this fragrance for over 50 years. It is pricey but worth every penny. Only one spray lasts all day!

3.5/5 Rating I purchased this perfume because it was the one my grandmother always wore and had on her dresser when I was a child. It always meant class and elegance to me, and I can recall sneaking into her room to spray it on. I was very excited to see the perfume on Amazon and so I bought it on impulse. I fully believe this to be authentic and have not found anything to suggest it is not. It comes in a lovely, solid spray bottle that looks very elegant on my armoire. The scent is just as I remember it – divine but not overpowering. However, the scent does not last for more than half an hour. I read (after purchase) several reviews that stated the scent does not last and they are correct. No matter how many scent points you spray or how strong it smells initially, it dissipates quickly. Half an hour after spraying heavily, I could only smell the scent at skin level and even that was incredibly light. I do not regret buying the perfume as it brings back wonderful memories of times past but that is all I use it for. Since it last for so short a time, I do not use it for events or daily use. Instead I use it to recall good times or to boost my mood for a short bit. I sometimes spray myself of my pillow at night and it helps set the mood for a good night’s rest. Unless you only want this perfume as a reminder of the past or as a mood booster, I would not purchase it. It does not have the staying power of the older, original perfume and is just too expensive when you can find longer lasting options.

Best price we could find. Beat the price at duty free shops at three overseas airports on a recent trip.

It's always been my favorite perfume over the years. No matter what new perfumes come on the trend - this perfume will always be uniquely elegant on its own. Loved it. Great purchase, product is genuine, new, boxed and sealed.
