## Questions & Answers

**Q: is this made in the usa**
A: No it is not. While it is well made and stamped "Colonial-2013on mine and Prov, R.I. the knife is "made in China".This is clearly stated on another vendors web site.I have one of these and 6-8 other Electricaian Knives. American made and otherwise. One of them is an older Colonial electricians knife that was made in USA. This knife is solidly built, good G-10 like handles and the screwdriver blade locks up tight. All in all a decent buy.If you are looking for an American made electricians knife might I suggest an older Camillus TL-29.This Colonial is still a good knife regardless of where it's made.

**Q: Is this realy made of 440c stainless? i saw my friend's and he got it direct from colonial knife and it is 440a. 440a and 440c are quite different**
A: Most modern Colonials I've seen are 440A.

I replaced my old friend when I didn't have to.

*by T***T on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2014*

I have carried a Colonial Knife E2 Ranger Series Electrical Knife in my pocket for almost 15 years. I have misplaced it many times, and thought it was lost, but I generally found it eventually. Once, my sister drove from her home, 124 miles, to my house. While she was visiting I put a fuel additive into her Expedition's diesel tank just before she left, and when I discovered the knife was missing, I remembered that I had last used it to cut the plastic tip off the additive jug, and laid it on her back bumper while I poured the additive. I called her home after she returned and asked her if my knife was still on her back bumper, and danged if it wasn't laying there, with the blade still open, after her 124 mile return trip. I have also owned four folding Buck knives, but I never carried them in my pocket because they were a little too bulky. About a month ago, I lost my old knife again. It was like reaching in my pocket and missing an old friend, so I ordered another one from Knife Country to replace it. When I went into the US Post Office to get my mail, there was the package from Knife Country, three days before I expected it, in my USPS box, and when I walked up to the counter (with the package in hand) to buy a book of stamps, the fine young lady behind the counter reached into a drawer and pulled out my old 'lost' knife and placed it on the counter, saying "You left this the last time you were here". So now I have two of them, identical. Was I going to send the Knife Country package back? Heck no! Maybe I will give my son the new Colonial Ranger. And maybe I won't. He still has the Swiss Army knife I gave him when he was a Cub Scout. The Colonial Ranger is really a great knife, and it takes only a few licks on the knife sharpener once every couple of months to keep its edge keen. I use it for everything, including cutting slices off an apple (because I have only ten teeth left and it's kind of hard to bite chunks off an apple), and doing a little whittling and scraping, a lot of box opening (all them Amazon packages, you know), and just about anything else I can think of to use it on. It just feels good in my hand. And its blades are easy to open, but they lock securely in place when using it.

    Solid well built knife...

*by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2015*

I have always carried a two bladed electricians knife and feel incomplete without one in my pocket. (I am not an electrician)I found this Colonial knife and leaned towards it as it is manufactured here in the USA.Slight downside is the flat screwdriver blade is a little narrower than I prefer and the curvature of the other blade is not quite how I like it, but that is correctable.Fit and finish is very good and this is a solid, well built knife that I hope will be my final pocket knife purchase.

Could have been a great tool....

*by A***. on Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2015*

I was never able to fully use this knife because the locking mechanism is bent (received that way), and will not lock the blade properly. It will engage, but flips out of place with even *slight* pressure to the blade being pushed to the CLOSED position. As a non-locking knife it would be solid, except the locking tab gets in the way of it opening and closing smoothly from it being bent. The grip is nice, and the blades themselves are great. Mechanically, though, it is pretty much unusable as a daily tool due to the hassle and frustration of a tab that doesn't properly do it's job,.. AND interferes with the blade transitions.
