The story is about two used car lots and a bunch of phoney sales patter and dirty tricks from the business rivals. Well about 40 years ago when they made this film it may have been great but today I only found it to be ok. Kurt Russell is the lead actor and I've never seen him look so young but there are things I don't understand and I think I'm old enough to. In a romantic meal scene with Deborah Harmon he looks as if he is wearing eye liner. Was that something American men did in 1980 or is simply bad make-up that the close-up shot scene on a 40 inch TV reveals? I don't think I've seen Deborah Harmon in an other film and she doesn't have a lot of dialogue in this one, she also doesn't wear a bra for about the last half of the film, only wearing some sort of think slinky top. What's that all about? There are some moderately funny parts of the film but maybe you have to really like border-line slap-stick to enjoy this film more than I did. The story moves on fairly slowly and then has a longish drawn out finale with a lot of cars and inbetween the car shots you see shots of Deborah without a bra standing up in a pick-up truck. For a blu-ray the quality mostly isn't great and I have DVDs that are sharper. There are several night scenes where the quality suffers the most with 'white speckling'. The sound is 5.1 but originally the film was mono but the soundtrack is what I'd call typical american car-chase music, I've heard better in a shopping centre so being on blu-ray isn't a benefit. In summary for a cheap DVD this would be ok but on blu-ray, even cheap blu-ray it's not really worth it. The film is border-line for me to donate to a charity shop but I'll keep it for a while in case the kids find it great.
