This one has the right balance of bitterness and smoothness and is a vibrant green color. Like other reviews say, the can is small, and I’m definitely using twice the serving size of 2g (14 servings per can). Since I make one cup a day, I end up going through about 3–4 cans a month. Switched to the subscription delivery to save a little extra. Definitely the way to go to make it even more affordable! Less than $1/day habit, which is a small fraction of what I’d pay for an inferior version at my local coffee shop. Hot tip: I make a paste with the matcha powder and agave before adding water or milk and heating. Gets rid of the lumps really easily. A bamboo whisk is the traditional method but I found it hard to clean and never got all the lumps out.

**Q: So I am currently using this product, but I was wondering why it is labeled as 'culinary quality' while others are not? Is it just for baking?**
A: Culinary quality matcha is a "lower grade" than normal, ceremony grade matcha.  In other words, not QUITE as much painstaking attention is taken to ensure the top-of-the-top, cream-of-the-crop flavour.  Ceremony grade matcha will cost at LEAST $20 an OUNCE, and that's from some general retailer such as Teavana.  Culinary grade doesn't mean it's bad...but sometimes it can be.  Culinary grade is about 6-8 dollars an ounce.  I haven't yet tried this kind, but it's come highly recommended to me. (And no, it isn't just for baking.  It's just...not quite suited for drinking alone.  Not smooth/sweet/fresh enough.  Smoothies, lattes, cookies, ice cream...they should work just fine with this.  Matcha banana smoothies, matcha cookies, and matcha ice cream are heavenly. :D )

**Q: How do I prepare this matcha?**
A: If you're asking about how to prepare it for drinking...You need a chasen (whisk) and little matcha scooping spoon. (see something like: http://www.amazon.com/ThinkBamboo-Cooking-Tea-Whisk-chashaku/dp/B003VSEG7Q/ref=pd_sbs_k_1) The basic idea is that you put a scoop or two (or more) into a bowl, and then add hot water and whisk it vigorously until it becomes foamy, I think. I am no expert, but that's how I do it and it seems to work and taste pretty good. I don't think you have to worry so much about the very precise, ceremonial details with this matcha though as it is culinary grade not ceremonial, but it definitely does the trick!

**Q: In "about the product" it says "made in united states," while the photo of the can clearly says, "product of japan."  what is correct?**
A: The can states in a couple of places that this product is "100% natural green tea powder imported from Japan", it is imported by G.  T. Japan, Inc. in Irvine California and may be repackaged there, I'm not sure.

**Q: Is there a difference between the culinary and universal matcha from this same brand?**
A: there isnt any difference that i noticed. it tastd the same to me.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ great product but price is out of control

used to be good value but since i found this in 2025 the price went for $8 or $9 to $11-$13 jump in few months and now, within a month and a half the price has risen by $3 from Jan 2026 to March 2026. now it is the same price as any other matcha both good and bad. its still good but not the same great price as before! Wish I bought multiple two packs when it was $18 for 2. It may be tariffs changing the price or greed from success, but im sad its basically going to be $20 very very soon. will try to find another better deal but this used to stand out in the market for price and quality. luckily even with price, you save some money making matcha at home then buying it at a cafe as often, but still a very crazy jump in price!!!
