Logan Cos-Tools Straight/Bevel Cutter (XTB6010)

I like the ability to switch from 90 deg to 45 deg, but it is very awkward lining the blade up with a straightedge and keeping a straight edge on the beveled cut. I’ve used it successfully doing mats for miniature artwork, but I went with a 30” mat cutting system with separate vertical and bevel cut blades that lock on the straightedge.

First of all this does not come with any instructions, but I was able to figure it out on my own. But I couldn't get a straight line because the bulk of the cutter blocked the line I had drawn. Also, to get the bevel correct, you have to cut from the front of the mat instead of drawing lines on the back. All in all, it gave a sloppy appearance that I wasn't willing to display. Maybe with more practice, but I didn't want to waste matboard on this cheap cutter.

First off, the unit I got was RED, not blue. Second, the design is missing an important part: a slot so their cutter will slide in the rail system they have. That's a stupid flaw that could have been fixed with a simple modification of the design.

I used thos item on stylofoam fireplace fake brick 🧱 sheets which was the thickest the cutter would allow, but it did the job and also cut the 45 degree corners. I had to change the blades a few times as the brick parts are hard and jagged but still cut through.

Cuts OK a bit hard to get a square edge in Foam Board . Needs some practice . For what it is ( moulded Plastic) it’s very over priced. I bought a new one ( rather than used ) . I found the packaging had already been cut open . So it may not have been a new one .
