Let me start off by saying i'm not a shaving brush expert by any stretch of the imagination, but this Semogue 830 is just awesome at any price point! I'm a newbie at this old style shaving technique, but within 30 seconds of whipping, I had a fantastic thick creamy lather! I've now had this brush for 2 weeks, and the brush tips are already baby skin soft. The knot and loft of this brush is perfect, giving you a nice full brush for whipping up great lather. The boar bristles stand firm and don't splay out like some of the badger brushes do. I first soak my Semogue 830 in warm water for about 1 minute. I then squeeze out most of the water, and load up the soap onto my brush by swirling it 15-20 times on the soap. Then I take the brush to a separate lathering bowl where I add a few finger drops of water and then whip it into a nice thick creamy lather. This brush doesn't care which shave soap you use, i've tried Prorasso and the cheap Williams and it lathered both into nice thick creamy lathers. So far I only lost 3 hairs, and it seems to not be shedding. I love the clear acrylic handle, it gives it a touch of class. Also, some of the reviewers talk about animal smells...not sure what hey are smelling, but my brush had absolutely no odor. My wife also could not detect any odors. My brush was purchased thru Nelson's Barbershop on desertcart. Check out my pics and you can see the lather I am getting from the different soaps. It also fits in my Fento chrome stand as shown.
