Review: Nicer than expected. - Actually, the mat turned out much better than expected. (Bought the size Medium also.) Just the right thickness to be durable, but not too thick as to impede the induction cooktop sensors from detecting the pan (or impairing the efficiency of heating from as best as I can tell.) The mat itself is like a Silpat baking mat, thin, translucent grey-ish color with fiberglass woven in. The black edging and black radial "spokes" are actually silicone bumps, raised up from the surface of the mat. I wanted these to protect the cooktop from scratching and also to stabilize a pot so that it wouldn't turn/slide across the cooktop when stirring. The mat does that perfectly. Looks pretty good on the black glass cooktop as well. No feedback yet on long-term durability, surviving the dishwasher, etc.
Review: Appears Well-Made But Pricey! - Bought this induction range protector to prevent scratches on our new range’s glass top. This product is ONLY repeat ONLY for induction cooktops, NOT for electric glass top radiant ranges. If you try using this on a conventional radiant burner, it will be destroyed. That said, I tested this mat to boil a pot of water and then another pot of water with no mat. I could not detect any difference in the time to boil water. I have used the mat to sauté vegetables and brown meat with excellent results. That said, these mats are pricey!!

## Features

- 100% Silicone Fiberglass
- WARNING - Not for use on electric glass, gas, coil cooktops. Only for use on induction cooktops - Only use when cooking by power settings
- CAUTION - Make sure your cookware is compatible with induction cooktops and mats before buying. An easy way to check if your cookware should be compatible is to touch a magnet to the bottom of your cookware and see if it sticks and holds strongly to the bottom of the pan. Most magnetic stainless steel cookware and cast iron pans are compatible. With cast iron pans please be careful not to exceed the mat's heat resistance
- Your cookware must have a flat base and strong magnetic coating to ensure it will work with the mat
- This product is NOT an induction plate adapter to use non-induction cookware. It is NOT compatible with induction plate adapters
- Pans may heat slower when using induction mat especially if cookware has a weak magnetic coating
- Heat Diffusion - 100% silicone and fiberglass meant to maximize lifespan of your induction cook top
- Unparalleled Protection - Prevents induction cook top from unwanted scratches and scrapes. Keeps pots and pans from sliding during cooking
- Multi Purpose - Can be used in the microwave, oven safe up to 480℉. Can be also used as a pot holder

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use my cast iron on induction with this mat?**
A: Yes and don't ever use cast iron on an induction stove without it. If you do you will scratch the hell out of the glass top.

**Q: Can I use mat & diffuser to use cookware not maganitized for my induction stove top?**
A: I do it all the time with a different brand mat. Thinking of trying this mat. I make a "sandwich" with these mats https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0789CRP5Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this diffuser plate https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08FTCJRTY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 in between the mats. I cook daily with my ceramic and glass corning cookware this way. I have found an odd odor from the mats when they are heated on the cooktop after running them through the dishwasher though. I'll hand wash them from now on.

**Q: can I use a regular pot with this product?**
A: If you mean can you use it a regular glass cooktop with a regular pot?--NO--it would melt. This is only to be used on an induction cooktop with induction compatible cookware.

**Q: Is the weave fiberglass that would end up pressed against the stovetop, or is it fully coated in silicone?**
A: The fiberglass is woven into the material and the ridges and edges of the mat are silicone preventing the fiberglass from pressing against the stovetop. The fiberglass is coated to prevent any scratching.

### ⭐ Not recommended: Protects the cooktop but nearly doubles cooking time
*by J***P on August 26, 2020*

Summary: expensive waste of money. Yes it will stop a pan from scratching the cooktop, but it also doubles the cooking time because the thickness of the mat weakens the magnetic field. Kind of defeats one of the primary benefits of induction. Wasted $90 on a set of four of these. +1 star for protecting the cooktop. The product does that job quite nicely and the pan doesn't slide around when stirring something. -4 stars for fact that it drastically cuts the heat output of an induction cooktop. It is too thick and the magnetic field is not as strong as when the pan is sitting directly on the cooktop. You can tell by the sound of the induction cooktop and the fact that when turning heat to Turbo mode, nothing much happens. Where I used to cook on a setting of 5-6, I now have to go to 9 or H. Where previously I couldn't use Turbo mode unless I was boiling water because everything would burn in less than 20-30 seconds, I have frequently used Turbo mode to cook the whole meal because it doesn't get hot enough to burn. I have timed this multiple times to make sure I was not imagining this. My test method: Turbo mode (highest setting on my induction range), Le Creuset teapot, 2 cups of 60 degree water heated to full boil as indicated by whistle going off. Cool teapot to room temperature and repeat. Average of 5 tests without mat in place was 1 min 18 secs. Average of 5 tests with mat in place was 2 min 47 secs. I have tested this with cast iron, an expensive Viking cookware set, and a nice blue steel Rosle pan that is my most magnetic and easily heated pan. All take double or longer time to achieve the same results as using no mat or a paper towel.
