When I see pics of every power strip burnt up from every brand, is it the customer's fault for overloading them?

You aren't going to burn up a power strip unless you are adding something with a high current draw like a window air conditioner or electric space heater.A power surge,such as a lightning strike,recently burned up one of my power strip surge protectors.I replaced the power strips,but i didn't need a new tv, dvd player,and stereo.
