She could launch you up to the moon, but could gently ease you into the re-entry back to earth. Such was the prowess that Chaka possessed with her voice, she could sing anything. It would be remiss to me not to mention some of the styles that Chaka can sing,it starts with gospel, then jazz,a touch of rock, some country and much more.This album may not contain all of the various styles that I have mentioned. From my perspective, I think that Chaka most enjoyed singing songs that would get you up dancing. It may be the full throttle, 'I'm every woman ',or it could be a song that is what we used to call a "slowey '. For those of you of a certain age, you will know what a "slowey ", song is.This was back in the day when "clubbing " ment going to the disco. You could actually hear the lyrics and the music. When you were in the disco, you were transported to a place where you could forget all the problems you had. That may sound to the younger folk as being simplistic or un cool in today's world. All I can say to that is, ask your mum and dad, or for that matter, your grandparents, about the scene, that was disco. You may be surprised at the answers that you get.This compilation is a trip down memory lane. It also gives a snapshot of Chaka getting the funk on. Unless you have ice in your veins, this album will get you up and doing that funky dance. My last bit is about the sound quality. It is excellent. Because the price point for this is low, you could be forgiven for thinking that the sound reproduction would be rubbish. This is not the case with this release. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ She Is Somebody *by N***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 December 2007* Chaka Khan was at her height between 1978 - 1985 in the UK, during that period she had 4 top twenty hits. Her first hit was the disco smash I,m Every Woman which charted at #11. Discotheques across the land could be heard playing this track with its orchestrial influence. Strangely enough when remixed and re-released it reached #8. Her #1 hit I Feel For You plus Remix versions of This Is My Night #14 and Eye To Eye #16 a full eight and a half minutes worth are also here. Yvette Marie Stevens to give her her maiden name started out with the 1970,s funk band Rufus and included on this cd is my personal favourite Aint Nobody which i had on 12inch vinyl way back in 1983. The rest of the album contains 4 lesser hits in the UK from later albums but if you want to check out the artist to date try her 2007 Cd Funk This which has just given her highest Billboard chart position since 1978. How many artists will do that 29 years later with a new album.
