I had previously played the Wii and, while some titles were fun, I was overall unimpressed with the technology. It was a nice start, but there was room for lots of improvement. I had read numerous reviews about PS Move before deciding to try it, and I recommend you do as well to get positive and negative feedback, as this will allow you to mitigate your expectations and make a better decision. But, despite my skepticism, I have enjoyed the Move technology, as well as Sports Champions, tremendously. I am the typical "hardcore" gamer, swallowing up titles like God of War III, the Call of Duty series, Killzone 2, and so on, so entering a more casual experience could have been a disaster. I was very much surprised, however, by how much I have played and liked playing with PS Move. The technology is outstanding. The motion tracking is much more advanced, as you no doubt have heard, than the Wii's entry, and as a result you really can tweak your throw in Disc Golf to get the frisbee to curve just how you'd like it to. There are some differences from reality, as is to be expected, but in so far as the controller can mimic the way you would hold and throw the disc in real life, the software does tremendously. You can realistically flip the disc into the goal at near distances, and throwing the disc too high can make it come gliding backward, just as it would in real life. The same is true for all of the games included with the bundle. Bocce actually turned out to be one of my favorites, and my roommate and I play this one together more than any other game. I could go on and on about the rest of the games, but the message is clear: the physics and response of the game should not be what gets in your way of success. It's very, very good. If you suck, you just need to practice like you would in person. My only complaint is in archery. I have two controllers, and so with archery I'd like to make use of them both to add realism to the experience. Perhaps I have just been calibrating it poorly (in all the games, you can re-calibrate at any time by pressing the Start button and choosing calibrate), but my forehand wand seems to get in the way of my line of sight, sometimes blocking my reticle and obscuring my target. It hasn't been a big issue, but it's been something I've had to wrestle with. I have not had this issue with the single controller, which is what is included in the bundle. The bundle also includes a demo disc which includes demos you can download off of PSN. The only two I have tried were The Shoot and Tumble. The Shoot was okay. I only played it once. But Tumble is a title I can definitely imagine picking up down the line. It was very fun and the physics were very well done. In the future, though, I am mostly looking forward to titles like Killzone 3, since I want to see how aiming with the PS Move would translate into my favorite FPS games. The camera does what it does. It shouldn't cause issues, but I can't say much more than that since I haven't used it for video chat or anything. The included cable has been long enough for my purposes, but the annoying part about it is that the cable is kinked back and forth because it comes wrapped up, and this can cause the camera do want to twist or turn when first setting it up. A bit of a pain, but the cables will relax with time. I have found the "range" of the system to be very forgiving. You don't really need to abide by the whole "step back 8 feet" thing. I've played as close as 2 or 3 and, depending on the game, haven't had any issues. Your experience may be different than mine, but from my perspective it should work in most rooms just fine. Regarding calibration, it's super easy. Once you've done it a few times you can calibrate in 2 seconds. Really. 2 seconds. And you don't need to stand right in the center like the Move asks you to. You just need to stand within the camera range and do the calibration. Also, you only need to calibrate when you enter or exit a game. So you would calibrate after choosing Archery, but not after every Archery match. It's a total non-issue to me. However, if you move from your initial calibration spot too much, you may find yourself needing to re-calibrate in the game, but probably not even then. I've found the system to be quite robust to changes. So there you have it. The system works as advertised and I think you'll have lots of fun with the games - I have. I'm mostly looking forward to future titles to beef up the hardcore selection, but for now, I have been pretty satisfied by the PS Move Bundle. P.S. One more thing. When I bought this bundle, I used Free Super Saver shipping. It was shipped by FedEx SmartPost. What a lousy service, desertcart. It took longer (not much) than the maximum allotted shipping time (I think it was something like 11 or 12 days in total - ridiculous to go from Phoenix to Seattle.), which I have never seen from an desertcart shipper. Not to mention that they had a horrible tracking service so I didn't know where my package was except for maybe three days during the whole trip. If I had to go back, I would have paid to have it shipped a different way or requested that desertcart use USPS only or SOMETHING. Review: I'm addicted & my arm hurts. - I have had the move for two weeks now, and have spent a rather significant amount of time using this bundle during that time. Both the system itself & the sports pack that came with it have exceeded all of my expectations up to this point. I am a moderate gamer & while I do not own a Wii system, I have several close friends and family members who do. This is a clear step forward from the Wii. The motion controller is far more sensitive & the graphics are much more visually appealing. That being said, they are simply different systems that cater to a different demographic. Those looking for a child or family friendly sports pack would likely still be best served by Wii's collection. While a USB cable would suffice, one slot is taken up by the webcam "eye", and the cables are too short to allow for play while they are plugged in anyway. I actually went with 2 of the 2 controller charging stations by Sony because I noted several 3rd party items had negative feedback up to this point. I got 2 because I also picked up 2 of the move navigation controllers which have no relevance in terms of the sports pack, but should in the near future for other games. The 6 games that are included really run the gamut - frisbee golf, gladiator duel, boccee, ping pong, volleyball, and archery. I've played a fair amount of each, but volleyball & boccee in particular lost my attention in one player mode. I will likely leave those for two player games with a friend more often than not. Frisbee golf, gladiator duel, ping pong, and archery are all a lot of fun. Just as important, the AI challenge is appropriate and the game is not easily beaten if you aspire to get 3 stars. I spent almost 3 hours last night trying to get 3 stars on one of the last silver rounds in frisbee golf. I cannot imagine how long the gold rounds will take at this rate... Also, you cannot get by with a simple light flick of the wrist as you can with a Wii. This is not a sit down game, nor should it be. After 3 hours of gladiator duel I was covered in sweat & my arm was sore for the better part of 3 days. Much like the Wii, this promises to bring non-gamers in on the action. My room mate is not a gamer by any means, quite the opposite, but I caught him up at 3 AM playing frisbee golf the other day. I have a number of friends (both guys and girls) who have given the move a try & praise for it has been universal at get togethers. My central complaint is for the "eye" webcam, not the sports pack. It is very much sensitive to lighting, particularly natural light. We have blinds in our living room, but no curtains. Any amount of sunlight during the day makes it necessary for us to hang blankets over the windows if we want to use it. The "eye" needs to be able to follow the lit ball on the end of the motion controller in order to pick up your movements. It simply cannot do that in a sunlit room. Also, the quality of the images that the "eye" produces are lackluster. If it were being used solely as a webcam, it would undoubtedly leave something to be desired. That being said, when the lighting is right it does what it is supposed to. It must be centered at the base or top of your tv and 6-8 feet of space is needed in front of it in order for it to properly calibrate/sense your movements. Also, you will note that you cannot change the color of the ball on the motion controller. If it is indeed based upon the colors in the room, it felt pink was best for our decor. Certainly I would have chosen a different color if I could, but I figure I already look silly enough slashing & swinging wildly around my living room. Overall, I think the sport pack is a great introduction to what the move is capable of. While a limited collection of games are available now for the system, there are a good many titles in the hopper for the holiday season. It's certainly a lot cheaper than picking up a new Wii system for yourself, and in my opinion there's a lot of promise here for the price. In a nutshell, it's a motion gaming device. Some have called it the wii in HD but the move is somewhat different. While it does somewhat "borrow" a few of the wii's concepts it has a different feel to it. Anyway, I woke up on a good old saturday morning rushed to the post office and got my bundle. Upon un wrapping it, it was pretty much everything I expected. A playstation eye, the move controller, sports champions and a demo disk. They all felt pretty much like all playstation products. Stable and good quality. They were pretty easy to install and I had no problems doing so. Even my electronically challenged sister could figure this one out. However, if you find the process difficult, you may consult youtube on how to do it. There are numerous videos online offering help and reviews of the move. Ofcourse, the first game I played was sports champions. I have Fight: Lights Out but since I have yet to purchase another controller I can't play it yet. Also, I've been looking for another controller and they seem sold out in a lot of places or over priced! Nonetheless, Sports Champions is relatively good. Although, there are some iffy moments it's a good game and I will not review it here because I think that should be under the game itself. All you need to know is that it is actually worth your money and truly shows what the move can do. The controller:Very easy to set up and great at sensing movements. I had no problems with lag or anything like that. I also noticed that the controller really requires you to swing it. A flick of the wrist on a lot of games did nothing and I found myself really having to swing it. I woke up the next day with a muscle ache of epic proportions. Perhaps, I did abuse the gladiator game a bit but the game was really addictive and there is something very satisfying about it. I found myself celebrating more than my own character. I am not sure if I can set the color of the glow ball because I would love to. It started irritating me a bit when it kept changing into all these funky colors. It was great and cool at first but there was just something strange about being a macho gladiator swinging around a pink glowing ball. Eye: I put mine on top of the Tv but later moved it below the Tv and there was not much difference. It tracked my movements well. However, movement from side to side is not really recommended though I had no problems moving forward and back. I have no complaints about not moving from side to side though I heard this is somewhat of a problem when playing Fight: Lights out. Overall, was it worth my money? Yes it was-although, I did get it on cyber monday with the extra video game deal. Nonetheless, I played for hours straight until my controller ran out of batteries. I am enjoying it so far and looking forward to future games. I admit when it was first released I scoffed and wondered who in heavens name would buy that, certainly not me but here I am loving and reviewing the product. PS. Do not listen to people who don't own it go on about it because so far people who have the move seem to love it.
