NO MORE BIRD POO!!!! NO MORE DEAD BIRDS!!!!!
We had birds nesting under an overhang dropping their poo on our bbq grill, our patio and the dog's kennel including the dog's food n water bowls. They were dive bombing our vehicles AND the birds were entering our garage when the big door was up or the small door was open thereby becoming trapped therefore succumbing to their death after head butting the glass window too many times in their efforts to escape. I bought a couple of these owls, a couple of the hawks as well as several snake replicas including a very realistic cottonmouth and rattlesnake. Together these have done the trick! The owls and hawks are hanging by durable fishing wire in several strategic places. They are hanging in the areas we want to deter birds and where a breeze can gently spin these replicas to add realism. As these bird replicas are all placed by different doors and different overhangs I know each of them are indeed responsible for their area being free of poo! The snakes are intertwined in chain link and the larger replica snakes are out front along the garage wall on each side of the large garage door, so are "guarding" different areas. The birds now stay away from our garage, patio and dog kennel. Since literally the week after I placed our replica critters I have not found *any* bird poo on our patio, our BBQ grill nor in the dog's bowls. No more birds in our garage, either! Wow, such an easy quick fix! I happen to collect owl statues, simple statues did NOT work. It took these life-like replicas to deter the persistent birds. Be sure to hand these birds by fishing wire or other durable means as cotton twine quickly degraded allowing our high drive dogs to have a new play toy. Despite getting somewhat crushed and chewed, this life-like replica is still performing as intended. This Gardeneer Owl is a great accompaniment to other bird of prey replicas and snakes to deter birds including the rainforest snakes I intertwined into our fence 12 Rubber RAINFOREST Snakes/14" Rain Forest Snake Figures/PARTY Favors/NATURE Toys/Anaconda/BOA Constrictor/Rattle/CORAL/Viper as well as the Safari Incredible Creatures: Cottonmouth Water Mocassin and Safari LTD Incredible Creatures Sidewinder Rattlesnake I placed on the brick veneer one each side of our garage door.

Very good fix to keep the masses of bird poopers off your porch. Eyes fade after a few years.
I've had this now (2016) for a three years. This is a great cheap fix to keep the huge gangs of dirty bird pooping machines away from your deck. When most little birds see this, they fly away right away. Some birds will hang around for a short time, but you can tell they are nervous. The amount of bird poop on my porch wall is now considerably less. I have had this for several years and the body paint looks exactly the same. The eyes unfortunately have faded a bit (see pic). Unfortunately for my condo on the 18th floor, it only really works for a 10 foot length in front of the owl. Not all birds can see this on the back side and will sometimes stand close to it's back. I have now bought a second one and I have placed them with their backs facing each other to they cover a large area. For me, the birds come in seasons as they migrate north or south. There can be as much as 100 birds on my deck at one time without my owl friend. I filled mine with a bunch of coins and tied it down with shoelaces. 3 year update: I added a second owl since I liked the first so much. Now it's obvious how much the eyes have faded. The pic I took was after I tried clean the old faded eyes. Next to the new one, there is a clear difference. The left eye is worse since it faces the sun more. If yours is in the shade, it may look better over the years. It still works, but I think the effectiveness have decreased a little. The paint actually looks changed very little over 3 years. The price is $5 more than 3 years ago and it's the same piece of painted plastic. I still give it 5 stars, but if the price keeps going up I might have to lower the rating to 4 stars since it would not be worth the money as much.

Won't work on Falcons
Beautiful owl. Bought two. Ones good, two should really scare the bird do-do out him. Falcon loved it!! Didn't scare him but once. He flew by and laughed, almost crashed as he was giving me the side eye as he grabbed one of my hummingbirds. 🤬🥺

Works Great! But pigeon and dove are not very bright!
Outstanding! This Owl WORKS GREAT deterring pigeon and dove ,,, and all other birds too! They don't seem to scare very much gamble quail or raven :-) ,,, but that is AOK! Gamble quail and raven are NOT a problem! :-) Heck, I love raven, black birds, crows! Predators! As for pigeons and doves, it is very funny to watch them not see my Owl at first, then they notice the Owl and FREAK OUT! hahaha One was sooo disoriented it flew into my kitchen window at FULL SPEED, yes now DEAD! hahaha Something similar happened to a Crow (Raven, a Black Bird, predator) one day. I like them! :-) so I was relieved! The Black Bird was not paying attention when it flew onto my patio. It then noticed my Owl and FREAKED OUT! and flew into my, yes the same, kitchen window WHAM! But not-to-worry! This TOUGH & SMART bird put on the BRAKES, not unlike an airplane when landing FULL FLAPS, just before it crashed before my eyes into the window! BAM! hahahaaha,,, It immediately got up off the floor, shook himself off, then flew off only a little shaken. Gamble quail are very intelligent birds. A group of them is very familiar with my back yard passing through daily with chicks, scrounging for food. After I put out the Owl ,,, their amassing in my yard diminished ,,, their movement arrested, restrained ,,, their gaze firmly on my Owl. I think they "know" it is not real, hahaaha This Owl has been miraculous! My front and back yard WAS a bird playground, especially pigeons! YUCH! DIRTY birds! Yes ,,, I do love birds ,,, but NOT PIGEON or DOVE. They are too,Too,TOO nasty with their droppings. I'm buying more Owls! hahaha Be Forewarned! The stupid pigeon and dove sometimes DO NOT SEE the Owl! hahaha ,,, But, the pigeon and dove DO LEARN to stay away! But, realize they are "homing" vermin! And it takes a while for them to reestablish new surroundings, diggs.

> NOT WELL DESIGNED - not affective against squirrels in South Florida
IN SHORT -- based on my limited experience, I suspect that the owl may be affective against "passing pests", with good eyesight, such as birds (with the caveat that it is repositioned daily), but probably is not very affective against hungry "resident pests" such as squirrels, which largely hunt by smell. > Seemed to have stopped squirrel's attacks on my mangos for 3 or 4 days, changing the position of the owl daily. After that, damage was moderate (1 or 2 eaten per day) -- but it's been a good year for mangos, so the squirrels have plenty to eat from the neighbors' trees. I doubt that the owl would have any effect in a lean year. > It is probably best to hang the owl. But the "hanging eyelet" is small, with only a little plastic which can break easily. I suspect that if you hung the owl with a length of wire that the wire would erode through in days. I very carefully enlarged the hole and used a (plastic) zip-tie to make a larger hanging loop. From my new hanging loop I used a 2'-long S-hook, to hang the owl -- that made it easy to move the owl around daily. > I also drove a few 5' stakes into the ground around my mango tree, and occasionally moved the owl to one of those (using the hole on the bottom of the owl, after taking out the plug). > The basic design of the product is not "user friendly. In short, although a clever person can find ways to place the owl, such that it is easily movable, the design of the owl really does NOT facilitate this. The "hanging hole" should be larger and stronger. A (say 5" deep) bottom plug could make the owl much easier to place on a stake". > If I had more faith in the owl concept, I'd consider a plastic owl with moving head and flashing eyes --- but I suspect that would NOT be much more effective against my furry-tailed mango thieves.

So effective, even 1/2 of my cats don't trust it.
He watched me open the box. He watched me pull it out, knock on its hollow plastic body with my knuckles, pass it back and forth with my significant other, and discuss it. Nonetheless, the moment I turned it so its eyes were facing his, my cat wanted to have NOTHING to do with it. He popcorned off my lap, off the couch and about four feet behind it to stand there with all of his hair bristled. I thought it would be funny to peek-a-boo the owl over the top of the couch to look back at him, because I figured he'd clue in immediately and know that it was fake. He was not amused. 48 hours after the owl has been relocated, he still won't sit on that part of the couch. He jumps up and walks around the other side of it, eyeballing what we now refer to as "the owl's spot," his spine slinky like he's wearing an invisible backpack full of rocks. He even fell asleep at one point on my lap and I transplanted him gently to that spot, and when he woke up, he realized where he was and jumped up, startled. (Meanwhile, for the record, this is a cat who is terrified of NOTHING, to his own detriment at times, and when we showed the owl to our stupid and anxiety-riddled cat, he either didn't care or was too dumb to figure out why his brother was acting like there was a wolf in the living room.) I put it out on our balcony and the next day, there were 0 birds and 0 squirrels in the back yard for him to murder and gift to us (or tear apart and leave strewn in unpleasant messes around the patio). I'm hoping it stays that way. We have two big trees that grow little berries that squirrels and birds love to eat, and it's like a giant trap my cats just camp out at to catch easy prey. What an easy solution - wish we'd thought of it a year ago!

These Pigeons Must Die
So I recently moved into a new house. The house had been vacant for a couple of years and there is a family of pigeons that have been living here longer than I have. The problem is that I pay the rent, and the pigeons are pooping in my backyard, and they think the pool and hot tub are their own personal bird bath. What this boils down is essentially I am in the midst of bitter war with this pigeon family. I'm talking Hatfield-McCoy type war. I purchased this owl in the hopes it would be a deterrent and the pigeons would feel threatened and leave. I was very excited when it arrived this morning and hung it up immediately. Now let me tell you the quality of the owl is great. Life like, the eyes are creepy, I was sure it would do the trick. It is hanging and there is a nice breeze going today so the owl has movement. I have followed the suggestions and to no avail. Within a couple of hours the pigeons are back in their nest in my pine tree, maybe 20 ft from the owl and in direct eyeliner of the owl. These pigeons simply DNGAF. I started by shooting Nerf missiles at them, tried the owl. Neither option has worked. My next purchase from Amazon will be for BB guns with heavy metal bullets. I have reached a shoot to kill scenario here. These birds are ISIS and my yard and trees are American soil. This injustice can not and will not stand. Again, this owl is of a finely crafted quality. It's plastic, has a hole to fill it up for weight, and a hole to hang it. They eyes are life like. But if you are dealing with pigeons like mine then I suggest a better option for spending $12 would be to send it to me through PayPal and if you are in the Los Angeles area I will come over and shoot them with my soon to be purchased BB gun.

Made in the USA realistic OWL
This plastic like Owl made to scare away various animals...is hand painted and made in USA. The owl has a round hole in base with a plastic plug, so that you can put sand in the owl so it will not be blown away by wind etc. I suggest fill the owl about 1/3 the way up with sand leaving the top 2/3 empty and reinsert the plug. Also you can remove the plug (save it) and mount the owl via the hole on a long 1" diameter (or so) pipe or pole in your yard/garden. This is easy to do and allows you to move the owl around the yard every day so the birds/squirrels etc will not get used to the owl being in the same location. I bought this owl and a similar hawk on the same day to see which works best. It is my view that the one will work best for you that you have the most of in your particular area. For instance we have maybe 40 red tailed hawks for every owl we see in our area, so there are many more Hawks than owls, so the Hawk works better at scaring away squirrels, woodpeckers, bluejays, etc. The Bluejays here really hate the hawk and dive at it repeatedly trying to make it move. The owl is a great item but does not scare away critters as much as the hawk in my view. Still I am glad I got it as I can rotate having the hawk out one day and the owl out the next day etc. Take them down some days also so that they critters do not get used to having one there all the time.

Great Product!
I purchased this to scare away the magpies, crows, starlings and pigeons that were creating a variety of problems in my yard. Any reduction in their presence would have been welcomed. Since I purchased this owl one month ago, the results have easily exceeded my expectations. The aforementioned birds are not only gone but I have been pleasantly surprised to see more robins in my yard than I have ever seen. I rotate it between two locations every 2-4 days. I filled it half full with gravel. Wind gusts up to 80 km/h have not moved it. As an added bonus, I don’t care if this owl continues to be effective simply because it looks so cool.
