Designed mainly for vocals, the V67G combines Class A FET circuitry and a transformer-coupled output for an open and pure sound. The V67G comes through with killer vocals even in front of a busy mix and has great stage appeal with a gold-plated round grill and distinctive, vintage body. You'll be amazed by the sound this cleverly-designed microphone provides and pleasantly pleased with the price.

Review: Great Warm Mic for Low Price! - I originally came upon this mic when I first started recording a couple of years ago. I enjoyed the warm tone and authenticity that this mic brought to the recording. I used it for my first live recording gig and it performed well considering my rig was pretty awful at the time. I just purchased this mic because I started to do more studio recordings and I needed an inexpensive Large diaphragm condenser that sounded warm and was a good all around mic. I used the MXL V67G for female vocals, male vocals, acoustic guitar, and aux percussion so far and with each instrument I have been very pleased by the performance and the quality. The proximity to the mic provides good tone close and far away with relatively low noise. The hard plastic shock mount that comes with it is of not much use so I would recommend purchasing the MXL 57 shock mount as well. The construction of the mic seems solid and I have had no issues with it. The mic does seem to have a slight break in period but it is very short and the 'newness' wears off to give you that great mellow tube/warm tone. Before I purchased it, I read some reviews where people had trouble with it out of the box not working. The only thing I can think of is that they didn't put on the phantom power because this mic needs to be powered to work. I look forward to trying this with drum overheads, acoustic pianos and possibly scream vocals. All in all, this is a great all around mic and it will enhance your rig. It is surprisingly cheap for how good it sounds, the response is great, it gives true tone of the instrument and it can be used for many different instruments. You won't be disappointed!
Review: Exceeded my expectations! - I purchased the MXL V67 based on user reviews I read on desertcart. I am grateful for the recommendation of others, and I will add my own recommendation for this impressive microphone offered at a very reasonable price. I use the microphone for making recordings for marketing presentations, VoIP telephony voice prompts, voice-overs, live presentations conducted via Webinars, and also for some hobbyist applications including amateur radio and music production. The microphone is so much better than dynamic microphones I was using previously. I also had a chance to compare this microphone to a couple of other condenser microphones, and this sounded as good as one, and better than the other. Subjective? Yes, but the other two people with me also agreed. BTW, both of those other microphones cost at least twice as much as I paid for this one (purchased from desertcart) As has been noted by other reviewers, this microphone has a very wide pickup pattern. It can hear the computer fan on the other side of the room, and another one at about a 50-degree angle. I do have to pay close attention to the ambient noise - but that's a problem with my environment, not with the microphone. I had expected signals from the side to be attenuated more, but that hasn't been my experience (possible reflections, but I don't think so, since acoustic dampening material didn't seem to make any difference.) I keep the microphone mounted in a shock mount, and have it wrapped in a plastic bag (hole in Ziploc bag with rubber-band securing it to mic body, Ziploc opening sealed hanging over end of microphone (mounted upside-down) to keep dust out of the mic - and found that it still picks up sound well, so for casual recording or when using it for webinars or voice communication, I just keep it enclosed in the bag. When I'm creating something for production, I open the Ziploc seal on the bag and roll up onto the microphone body to expose the microphone screen. This has worked well and keeps the microphone clean, and ready to use at any moment. This microphone has exceeded my expectations for its clarity and responsiveness. I am pleased to recommend the XML V67 (G) to you.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic mic for V.O. work!
*by D***N on August 31, 2018*

I use this microphone for professional voice over narration, and it performs just as well as more expensive mics. I have had no issues with it, whether recording character voices or audio book narration. While this isn't likely to be the go-to mic for a studio, it wouldn't be out of place there either, and will serve wonderfully for a home studio environment. It is a sensitive cardioid patterned microphone, so if there are large sources of background noise (furnace, fans, T.V., etc...) in a nearby room, it WILL be picked up in your recording. The V67G has a clear, rich tone, and requires little to no EQ for my voice. When getting up close, the proximity effect adds a great depth to the voice without distorting the tone, and without needing too large of a reduction on the gain. Overall, this microphone is well worth the money and then some! The MXL V67G is a condenser microphone, and requires an XLR cable hookup and a phantom power supply. Getting a good interface is just as important as having a good microphone, so be sure to research the interface that will work best for you. I would recommend a Focusrite Scarlet series interface to start with, but do your own research to find what will work best for your use.
