Very sturdy, great addition to workout room.
I wanted to install a pull-up bar in my basement where I work out. I went back and forth between this product and the one from the same brand meant to be installed into joists, which was more expensive. My plan was to install the pull up bar along the wood beams-joists in my basement that are already exposed. After doing some measuring I realized that the joist mounted pull up bar would hang down too low from the wood beam I wanted to install it on and just because this says "wall mounted" doesnt mean it can't be installed onto a joist. I am definitely happy I chose to purchase this wall mounted pull up bar. First, it was extremely easy to install. I read the other reviews and noticed they said the instructions called for the wrong bit to be used to pre-drill holes but it appears the company has since updated their instructions, which show to use a 7/32 bit to install, with which the screws fit nice and snug and secure. Installation consisted of 1) Making sure you know exactly where you want to install. Picture yourself doing a pull up, make sure you are centered where you want to be centered and won't hit your head on anything. 2) Pre-drill the holes for the first arm and install the first arm, make sure your arm is level before completely tightening. 3) Attach the pull up bar to the first arm. This will make it easier to install the 2nd arm with accuracy and correct spacing. 4) Line up the 2nd arm with the pull up bar already attached but dont completely attach, just put the screw in to see where the 2nd arm needs to be. Make sure 2nd arm is level, mark where to drill. 3) Move pull up bar out of the way by just swinging it aside since it is attached to the first arm, pre-drill holes for 2nd arm and install. 4) Attach pull up bar to 2nd arm. That is how I did it and it was very easy and only took 20 minutes or so. The bar is not moving AT ALL. Ive done pull ups from different positions on the bar, reverse crunches, and just hung there to get a good stretch, and I can tell I dont have to worry about it moving out of place. I am very happy with my purchase. This is a great addition to my work out room and gives me several options for use. Super easy to install and good quality...definitely recommended.

Easy installation if you do it right!
I'm going to begin this review by saying that I'm a 5'4", 130 pound chick who installed this thing in about 15 minutes flat. I'm not sure why so many people had installation troubles. The bar came in three pieces, plus a bag of parts - the supports with parallel grips and the bar. Installation steps: 1. Figure out where you want to install the thing and figure out the height you want to install it at. 2. Use a stud finder to locate the studs. The mounts install 16" center. Use a level to make sure you're straight, and mark the holes for your first mount. 3. Drill into the center of your stud using a 5/16th bit. Make sure you go as deep as your bolt. 4. Rub your bolts with bar soap. This makes getting them into the studs easier. 5. I was nervous about using a socket driver attachment on my drill for these bolts, because I didn't know how cheap they were. Instead I used a ratcheting socket wrench. Put a washer on each bolt and install your first mount up on the wall. * I hung from the first mount to make sure that it was in the studs. It didn't budge. 6. Double check that your second mount is going to hit a stud. Use your level across the tops of the installed mount and the second mount to make sure you're even. Then vertically level your mount. Mark your holes for the second mount. 7. Drill your holes, soap your second set of bolts, install them with washers on using your ratcheting socket wrench. 8. Attach your cross bar using the attached bolts, washer and lock nut on the bottom. Use your socket wrench to tighten those things too. And there you have it. I did put the cross bar on both mounts in between steps 6-7 to make sure that I had everything lined up right. It's up, I've pulled up with the parallel grips, the wide and standard grips, and I've used ab straps on it. It didn't budge. I can't attest to the long term usage of the bar, but I can only assume that the foam grips on this will wear off over time. Otherwise, it seems well made and reasonable for the price.

Solid Pull-Up Bar - Easy to Install
In this video I go over the pieces that come in the box as well as walking through the entire install process. In order to keep the video under the 10 minute limit I had to speed some parts up, but not much. The entire install process took 15 minutes - with an additional 10 minutes for getting out tools and putting them back away. If you don't watch the video, let me stress that the INSTRUCTIONS ARE WRONG when they say to pre-drill four 7/16" holes for the lag bolts. You should pre-drill 7/32" holes instead. That's a big difference! As far as the bar itself goes, it has turned out to be very solid. I'm 6'7" and 220lbs - and the bar holds my weight without any problems at all. One reason I went with the wall-mounted bar instead of one that just hangs in a doorway is because of my height, but I also think this looks better than the door-frame versions and you don't have to worry about damage to the molding or having to store it. I am completely convinced that this bar will last for years. When installed, the bar is 12" from the wall and is a total of 38" wide. The front-facing handles stick out about 19.5" (to the very tips). The center-line of the two supports are exactly 16" apart - which is great for mounting to typically spaced wall studs (although, you should check where you want to install the bar before ordering). Although I'm very happy with the Ultimate Body Press Pull-Up Bar, I am docking a star for a couple of reasons: 1) The rubber grip on both front-facing handles is messed up due to the way it was packaged. I showed this in the video as well. 2) Although this was easy to install, the instructions are a joke. There are multiple errors that are fairly serious if you were to follow the directions exactly without thinking it through. In some ways, I probably should have docked 2 stars for this since most of us trust the directions to be right and assume they will start making sense on a future step... 3) I should have mentioned it in the video, but I did end up using different lag bolts than the ones that were provided. (You can see the ones I used were silver and the provided bolts were black.) My main concern was ripping the heads off the bolts with my impact driver... Overall, if you are looking for a solid wall-mounted pull-up bar, this is an excellent choice. With just a couple of tools and a few minutes you can have a rock solid bar that is out of the way and should last for years. Now I just need to start improving my pull-up strength! *** UPDATE 6/30/11 *** I've been using this bar for a few weeks now and it is working great. One thing I've found is that it actually works better for me if I keep my back to the wall and do a pullup 'behind' the bar. (Hopefully that makes sense.) If I do pullups while facing the wall, my body actually ends up being a little too far away from the bar because of the way my feet go forward; but, when my back is to the wall, I get that satisfying feeling of my chin going over the bar. Another thing I did at first was to pick up some Iron Woody assisted-pullup bands to help increase my strength. Those bands work great for me and I can tell a huge difference already. I can now do 4 whole pull-ups without the bands! (Don't laugh...)

Well Made Product. Nice Addition to our Home Gym
Originally, my 17-yo son went out and bought a doorway mounted chin up bar at the local, large sporting goods store but after messing with it for a couple hours, I realized there was nowhere in our house that I felt comfortable using it without damaging part of the house. He returned that. So, I ordered this one from Amazon because we have a nice exposed wood beam with plenty of space in front of it to mount this and use it free of any obstacles. It came within 3 days (lost a day due to the recent snow storm) and I installed it on Saturday. Piece of cake install. Sturdy unit. My son loves it. Holds me too and I'm 6'1" and weigh 280 - and can still do a pull-up! :-) Anyway, looks like a good buy for the money. Nice addition to our home gym.

Awesome Bar, Great Product
Where to start. There isn't too much to say about the product itself. I love the bar. Took me sometime to get it mounted correctly but that is no fault to the product. The mounting bars are spaced 16" on center. My exterior wall studs are 18". So do yourself a favor and measure a few times, find out where your studs are, etc. I wound up cutting the drywall out (the width of a stud to minimize patch work). Finding the studs that I had. Turns out they were basically these 2x2 finishing studs fastened to a concrete wall. From there, I cut a 2x4 in to (4) 12" pieces. About 4" longer than the support bars. I fastened the first set of studs to the existing studs with 2-1/2" lag bolts counter sunk. From there I mounted the second set of studs with 4" lags bolts counter sunk through the first set into the existing stud. Once they were up I mounted the bar. I can tell you, it probably was a bit of overkill. Though, I spackled around the studs, wood puttied the cracks between the studs, and then painted everything. Going on about a month of use, nothing has moved. My only possibly complaint in the future might be with the grips wearing but at this point, I haven't had any issues. The products is sturdy, built well in my opinion and includes the lags bolts necessary to mount it. I would recommend.

I won’t buy from this manufacturer
I bought this used, direct from the manufacturer. It arrived missing a support arm, all the hardware was used and in poor condition, and the box looked looked it spent the weekend in a gorilla enclosure at the zoo. Will not purchase from them again. Thank you to Amazon for your amazing return policies.

Works fine, easy to install....
I had some reservations about a wall-mounted chin up bar for our home gym. I needed to mount it in wall studs through plaster and kept imagining the massive crash as I did my first chin-up and pulled down wall. But, the installation was perfect, and the bar is quite solid and stable. The key benefit of this model of bar is the anchors are spaced correctly for wooden wall studs. I was cautious, having read many reviews about the lag bolts breaking off during installation and the wrong sized pilot hole being indicated on the instructions. I followed the instructions exactly, using the included hardware, it went quite well. A good basic product for a good basic price. That said, there is one flaw. Chin-ups are just plain hard to do. : )

Great bar, great options, and instructions DO work.
The bar is great and the instructions do work. I don't know what the other reviewers were doing. I used the exact drill bit and the socket recommended. It took me less than ten minutes to install. I didn't have to use bar soap and if you don't have the right socket, find another the one that fits. Maybe these reviewers need a handyman for assistance. For pull ups I couldn't ask for a better bar. The layout with the horizontal and bent wide grips are perfect. I have had several door mounted pull up bars, but this one is much better. More sturdy than an door mounted bar and again the bar options are better than just a straight bar. I don't expect the foam to last long since on my other pull up bars the foam gets worn out after about of a year of use. But if you wrap it in hockey tape like I do, you'll find it last quite a bit longer.

This is a YES
Great pull-up bar. It's very sturdy, comes with good lag bolts for driving into studs, and fits perfectly into studs spaced 16 inches on-centre. It took all of five minutes to install. Stellar product, and a reasonable price. Thank You!!!

Happy with the outcome
Overall I’m happy with this product. Fairly easy to install but I followed the advice of others and put plywood behind the system to prevent digging into the wall. It would be nice if the metal tubing was slightly thicker. I’m 165lbs and the system is sturdy and doesn’t move for me. I like the grips it comes with and they can be removed if you wanted to replace it with tape etc if they degrade in time. I’d definitely recommend!
